Yeehaw! We had ourselves a rip-roarin’ good time at our annual Office Olympics Goes Wild West! 🤠 Ain’t nothin’ better than takin’ a break from the daily grind to rustle up some fun with our trusty partners— Evans General Contractors, NorthPoint Development, Samet Corporation, & Resource + Land Consultants! Together, we lassoed some laughs, kicked up our boots, and showed what happens when hard work meets good ol’ fashioned fun. But this hoedown wasn’t just about having a wild time—it was also about doin’ some good! We’re proud to say this shindig helped raise $2,000 for Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, a cause near and dear to our hearts. Shout out to our sharpshooter behind the lens, Shot by Somi, for capturing such a great day! Here’s to more moments like these, where we remember that the best partnerships are built on both work and play! 🐴

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Charles "Charlie" Lathrop George, who left us yesterday after a brief illness. Born in Savannah in 1958, Charlie was a man of exceptional character and talent, deeply rooted in his community and cherished by all who knew him.   A proud graduate of Windsor Forest High School, Charlie obtained his bachelor's of civil engineering technology at Georgia Southern University, where he honed the skills that would shape a remarkable career in engineering.    With 27 years of service at Thomas & Hutton, he made a significant impact as a Principal in the firm and leading our structural engineering department. Charlie was more than a colleague; he was a friend, a mentor, and a beacon of professionalism. His legacy at Thomas & Hutton and in the communities he served will be remembered for generations. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Holly, his children - Lexie, Vree, and Lilly, extended family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. May he rest in peace, knowing the profound and lasting impact he made on so many lives. Charlie's memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 7th at First Baptist Church in Savannah, GA. Reception at church social hall to follow afterwards.

As summer comes to a close and schools begins, our Columbia interns AJ Jones and Jonathon Hughes presented their Capstone Project and shared their experience at T&H, along with what they learned, and their future plans. Big shout out to Katie Johnson EIT who prepared the Columbia Office’s Civil Department Summer Internship Program, providing guidance for our interns on expectations, learning goals (including our internal training program - Up & Ready and site visits), and T&H's diverse services and markets. The program included a Capstone Project that was based on an actual spec building (Project Wolf). Both students returned to USC and we wish them all the best!

Today marks a special occasion in the history of Thomas & Hutton—our Founders' Day. On this day in 1946, Mr. Thomas and Mr. Hutton, both veterans of World War II, chose to make Savannah their home after the war. We are glad they did! For 78 years, our company has played a vital role in shaping communities and protecting the environment. Over the decades, countless dedicated professionals have contributed their expertise to solving challenging projects. What began as a single office on Bay Street in Savannah, GA has grown into a dynamic organization with people working across the United States, with principal locations in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. From our earliest partnerships with the City of Savannah and Chatham Steel—relationships that continue to this day—to Mr. Hutton's pivotal meeting with Charles Fraser that helped shape Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island, we have consistently provided innovative solutions. Whether it was wastewater projects in the 1970s, funded by the Clean Water Act, or today's cutting-edge work in electric vehicle manufacturing, Thomas & Hutton remains at the forefront of delivering excellence. But what has truly defined us through all these years are the people—the relationships we build with each other and with our clients. These connections are the heart and soul of Thomas & Hutton, and they are what make this company truly special. Happy Founders' Day!
