Exciting progress at our YBI project! We're currently working on the first lift of our soil nail wall and shooting shotcrete on the retaining wall—our first major milestone. Shotcrete is sprayed in circular motions through a hose to ensure the perfect thickness, covering our wire mesh reinforcement while going over the soil. Check back for more updates as we continue making strides on this project! #thompsonbuilders #construction #contractor #shotcrete #concrete #projectupdate #yerbabuenaisland #sanfrancisco #milestone #civilengineering
About us
Since 1989, Thompson Builders has successfully completed over 350 major projects in California totaling over $2 Billion in contract value. Using all project delivery models, we have experience building large-scale commercial and civil construction projects across all markets. Our extensive and diverse experience lends us a versatility that empowers us to tackle any project put before us. We are more than just a general contractor; we are true builders because we self-perform several foundational trades: rough and finish carpentry, concrete and civil work such as grading, paving, and utilities. This provides a huge competitive edge as we can pass the resulting cost savings along to our clients. Many of our projects have won awards and are recognized as Northern California icons, including the Yerba Buena Island SF-Oakland Bay Bridge footings, Manteca’s Big League Dreams Sports Park, San Jose’s Happy Hollow Zoo, San Francisco’s Cadillac Hotel, 72 Townsend, and Chinatown YMCA.

We're excited to announce that we're nearing the finish line on the Tahoe Regional Water Treatment Plant project! This month, we completed full plant disinfection and are currently working on punch list items and Startup/Functional Testing of the plant. Our crew is hard at work installing the chemical splash wall to protect the PLC, while finishing up the chemical piping. The landscape work is now complete, and the entire site is coming together beautifully. Great teamwork, and a shout-out to our crew—Chris L., Luis H., Jose A., and Richard S.—as we head into the final stages! #thompsonbuilders #construction #projectupdate #laketahoe #watertreatment #hardwork #bluecollar #contractor #generalcontractor

We're making great progress on our Santa Teresa Wastewater Treatment Plant project! Recently, we successfully completed the inspection of our dome and nozzle installation, along with air bubble and manometer tests on Filters 2E and 4W. Both filters passed and have been approved for sand and media installation. Sand has already been installed on Filter 4W, and we're currently working on Filter 2E. Everything is coming together, and we’re excited to deliver an improved water plant for this community! #thompsonbuilders #santateresa #wastewatertreatement #construction #projectupdate #bluecollar #generalcontractor #civilconstruction #contractor

We’re proud to reflect on one of our more unique projects in Thompson Builders’ history—the renovation and construction of a LEED Gold-certified amusement park and zoo. This project included new retail spaces, concession facilities, medical facilities, and attractions like a carousel and hand-pump car ride. As the first green amusement park in the U.S., it showcased our commitment to sustainable and innovative construction. We love seeing the vast array of projects we’ve completed in the past and look forward to the many new projects we’ll have in the future! #thompsonbuilders #construction #LEEDcertified #zoo #bluecollar #projecthistory #companysuccess #sustainability
