The Asheville City Market will be open this Saturday, October 12th from 9am-12pm. Thrive Asheville inquired with the City of Asheville after all special event permits were cancelled. We're excited the City and the Market have been able to come together to provide this platform for fresh food access and for farmers looking to sell their products. Here's more information from the City Market: Asheville City Market will reopen after Hurricane Helene this Saturday, Oct. 12. Hours and location are the same. WHERE: North Market Street between Woodfin and Walnut streets in downtown Asheville. The street is closed to traffic during market times. GETTING HERE: Free parking for customers is available at the HomeTrust Bank lot and at the Family Justice Center lot across from the YMCA at 35 Woodfin Street. Handicapped parking is available. There is a bus stop on the N1 and N2 routes one block away, on Broadway. Buses stop at both Woodfin and Walnut streets. #AVL #Asheville #Helene #WNC #BuncombeCounty #AVLStrong

The Asheville Independent Restaurant Association (AIR) hosted a meeting today, gathering over 100 local small restaurants to develop strategies for safe food donations and emergency re-opening in response to Hurricane Helene. These actions not only address immediate relief efforts but also set the stage for recovery, emphasizing the critical role that these restaurants play in Asheville’s economy and culture. Representing 15% of local employment, Asheville’s hospitality sector is an economic and cultural anchor of our county. Thrive Asheville is promoting supportive measures to help these businesses re-open and retain local entrepreneurs and hospitality workers. This combined community effort is essential to sustaining Asheville’s vibrant culinary scene and economic stability. #AVL #BuncombeCounty #AVLStrong #Asheville #WNC #Helene

The Asheville community is coming together in every way possible to provide mutual aid. Yesterday, Davis Furniture generously opened its doors, donating their on-hand inventory of furniture to those displaced from their homes and to those offering shelter. The apartment building next door received requests from over 100 refugees. It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming to witness the outpouring of support as people came together to provide comfort and safety for each other. #Asheville #AVLStrong #BuncombeCounty #WNC #Helene

During the ongoing emergency situation in #Asheville, efforts are focused on restoring essential services and ensuring the well-being of residents. Thrive is reaching out to other communities that have faced similar disasters to gather insights and strategies. Recently, we engaged with Montpelier Strong, an established committee dedicated to guiding recovery efforts following a flood that impacted their Appalachian town. At Thrive, we emphasize the importance of learning from past experiences to enhance our county's resilience, strength, and ability to recover and rebuild. #Asheville #WNC #AVLStrong #NorthCarolina #Helene
