About us

As one of the women in the construction industry, I believe that equality, diversity, and inclusion are of utmost importance in the construction industry. It is a fact that inclusive work environments lead to greater engagement. This is especially critical in the construction industry, where teamwork and effective communication are essential. • What can negatively impact your construction business pipeline? Somebody asked me about the three mistakes that can negatively affect your sales pipeline and backlog. Here’s what I shared: 1. Not Knowing the Client’s Budget: If the client’s budget becomes uncertain due to regulation changes or delayed funding, it can significantly impact your pipeline. 2. Inadequate Capacity to Respond : Your ability to respond effectively depends on your team’s capacity. If you don’t have the right people or resources to meet the demands, your pipeline will suffer. 3. Poor Timing: Finding out about opportunities too late can prevent you from responding effectively. Being prepared well in advance is crucial for maintaining a healthy pipeline. By focusing on avoiding these three mistakes, you can ensure your construction business maintains a strong and steady pipeline. • Do you know the risks of not having insurance? In the construction industry, ensuring your projects are covered with the right insurance is crucial. It's surprising how some companies still operate without proper insurance coverage, trying to cut costs. However, this risky approach can lead to severe consequences. Hiring someone without verifying their insurance can expose you to lawsuits and significant financial loss. Risk Exposure: Whether your project is small or large, your insurance coverage should match the level of exposure. A project worth millions needs substantial coverage to protect against potential risks. Legal Troubles: Even a small incident can lead to a lawsuit. Without insurance, you and your company are vulnerable to legal and financial repercussions. Choosing the Right Agent: Having a reliable insurance agent who understands your business needs and provides adequate coverage is essential. This relationship can safeguard your projects and ensure smooth operations. From my experience, having comprehensive insurance coverage has been a game-changer. It allows me to focus on growth and project success without the constant worry of potential setbacks. #ConstructionInsurance #RiskManagement #ContractorTips #BusinessProtection #PatriciaBonilla #ConstructionIndustry #InsuranceCoverage #ProjectSafety #BusinessGrowth #BuildingSuccess

  • "Do you treat your insurance provider like a strategic business partner? From my own experience, one of the most crucial strategies in managing a construction business is aligning with an insurance provider that matches your values, mission, and purpose. When I started Lunacon, having a trusted advisor who understood my needs made all the difference. It's much like a marriage—you need someone who clicks with you and whom you trust. This advisor will guide you through the process, helping you decide on the right coverage without pushing unnecessary policies. Before making a decision, I recommend interviewing a few providers to understand their approach and ensure they align with your business's needs. Consider your backlog, projected contracts, subcontract work, and self-performed work. Different trades have varying rates, so understanding these details is essential for proper planning and cost management. Click the link below to discover more valuable insights. • "Why is having proper insurance critical for contractors?" When I started my company, I quickly learned that obtaining a contractor's license in Florida requires having a minimum amount of insurance. You must prove you have liability insurance and workers' compensation insurance. This is a state requirement to protect contractors, their trade partners, and clients. Unfortunately, some contractors choose not to get licensed because of the cost, and some clients hire contractors without insurance, leaving everyone unprotected. The more sophisticated the client, the higher the insurance requirements. Similarly, the more sophisticated the contractor, the more comprehensive their coverage. Ensuring you meet these insurance requirements not only keeps you compliant but also builds trust with your clients and partners. Click the link below to discover more valuable insights. • How do you navigate the different challenges of office work and fieldwork in construction? In Season 3 of Thriving in Construction: The Podcast, we dive into the essential differences between office work and fieldwork in the construction industry with Christopher Corona, Project Manager at Lunacon Construction Group. While planning and problem-solving on paper is critical, navigating real-world challenges onsite requires a whole different set of skills. In the field, problem-solving involves dealing with access issues, working around existing structures, and ensuring the work aligns with the plans despite unexpected conditions. Office work, on the other hand, focuses on logistical challenges: securing funds, planning for unforeseen issues, and communicating effectively with stakeholders. Both perspectives are vital. Without the collaboration between the field and the office, project success would be impossible. This episode explores the dynamics of these two roles and the critical importance of practical problem-solving on both sides.
