Adding the personal touch to Project, Contract, and Supplier Management from Houston, TX.
About us
We help small to medium sized organizations with strategic, technical Project Management to ensure that they are doing the right things to keep their projects aligned with their business goals. While balancing the Project Management Triple Constraint Triangle of Scope-Cost-Schedule, we also bring in Quality, Risk and Communication management to our Projects. Further, we provide Contract Management services to ensure that these companies reap the benefits of the Contracts that they have negotiated, are positioned to negotiate from a position of strength, and are able to monitor the Contract Lifecycle. Finally, we also provide Supplier Management resources to strengthen their Supply Chain, in the form of Supplier Performance Reviews and Supplier Capability and Capacity Assessments. Performance Reviews identify both high and poor performing suppliers, rewards the former and identifies improvement plans for the latter. Capability and Capacity Assessments can be used to identify Risk in the Supply Chain, or an organization can use it to determine their own maturity and preparedness to enter a highly regulated industry, such as automotive or aerospace.

Today's #WomentoWatchWednesdays post features Nikki Heyd, Sr. Principal Value Stream Leader, Airworthiness & Certification| Avionics at Collins Aerospace. Nikki describes her career journey in her own words below. My interest in aviation goes back to childhood. In 4th Grade I told my Dad I was going to work for Rockwell International and design airplanes. I think he was a little skeptical, which he later admitted he was wrong to doubt me! I always knew I wanted to do something in Aviation. My journey started with being accepted to Iowa State University for Aerospace Engineering. Unfortunately, financial aid issues ended that journey about as quickly as it started. Undeterred, and not missing a beat I was accepted to the University of North Dakota, as an Airway Science Management major. UND is one of the premiere aviation programs in the country, so if I was going to realize a dream, it would be here! I spent my time at UND also doing a Cooperative Education Program with the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller (I passed the ATC Test, I still have my letter! What a stress that was!). While I loved the job, family circumstances forced a career shift. Newly married, and graduated, my husband already had a position with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, IA as an electrical engineer, and I thought that since Rockwell was an aerospace company, of course they’d want an “old” Air Traffic Controller! So upon graduation, I accepted a position at (then) Rockwell International working in Russian Programs. We were working the IL-96 Russian Transport. Later on, remaining on the Commercial Aviation side, I moved into a Customer Support Manager role where I was the primary interface for Rockwell with Bombardier Aerospace on their Challenger and CRJ platforms, this gave me a real opportunity to work with the user community (Pilots and Maintenance crews) I then made the move into Program Management working in Supply Chain, and Product Line Management on our Military Side working the F-22, then the Radio Navigation Product Line, which included the C-130J Aircraft Platform. This led me to my current position as a Value Stream Leader, Certification and Airworthiness. In my current role, switching back to my Commercial Aviation roots, I work with our Collins aircraft program teams, the FAA, and the various regulatory authorities around the world ensuring that aircraft have the means with which to fly in foreign airspace. My path to my role now looks like a three-year old scribbled it! I wouldn’t change anything however, I’ve been fortunate to be given so many opportunities to see the world for work (Favorite places I’ve traveled to: Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea), and the people I’ve met have been incredible!! Now, as a member of the Eastern Iowa Chapter of Women In Aviation International, I get to use this platform and my experience to encourage young girls to consider a role in the Aviation Industry! It’s not just pilots! #TrailblazingWomen #InspiringWomen

Today's #WomentoWatchWednesday post features the amazing Shauna Weatherly! Shauna Weatherly is a retired Federal acquisition expert and small business advocate who founded Federal Subcontract Solutions LLC (FedSubK) to help small businesses succeed in Federal contracting. In May 2023, she launched fedsubk.com to provide a one-stop resource to businesses as they navigate the often-complex arena of Federal contracting. Shauna’s nearly 36-year Federal career started as a military spouse and spanned several defense and civilian agencies. Her time as a chief of contracting and director allowed her to find her passion for training acquisition and program staff about contracting processes, eventually becoming trained as an instructor and instructional designer. After battling breast cancer, Shauna reprioritized her career and leveraged her experience to train the next generation of the Federal acquisition workforce. In her last Federal role, she served as an advisor to the Federal Acquisition rule-making bodies on the impact of new regulations on SAM.gov and other related systems. Shauna now shares her real-world knowledge and experience as an advocate and mentor to small businesses. Shauna and her husband have three daughters and five grandchildren. She is an avid world traveler and likes to live like a local when in other countries. You’ll find her in the piazza for aperitivo, the local pub with a Guiness, or admiring the art and architecture. We encourage you to check out her LinkedIn profile, follow, or connect. #WomenToWatch #WomenInLeadership #InspiringWomen #TrailblazingWomen #LeadershipSpotlight

In today's #WomentoWatchWednesdays post we feature the work of Gail Robertson - Chief Curiosity Officer. Gail has been a supporter and friend to Thurman Co since our launch and her "Lead with Curiosity" approach to life and business has been an inspiration. Her brief bio, in her own words, follows below. #WomenInspiringChange #WomenWithPurpose #SheLeads #CelebratingWomen #WomenMakingWaves I took a journalism class in high school that set me on a career path and also taught me many valuable life lessons. Much credit to Mr. Dan Barrett - a teacher who had a major impact on my life. He is now 94 and we still chat and share emails. He taught the class on his spare at Grimsby Secondary School and we also put out the annual yearbook (magazine journalism) ; we wrote for the local newspaper where I was seconded by the editor to cover Jr. B hockey as a "volunteer". Yes, I worked late most Sunday nights in hockey season for no pay but best experience that money couldn't buy! I learned to say yes even when I didn't feel ready. And sometimes you just start doing whatever it is you want to do (as you may never think you are ready) and connect with people who know more than you do! Transferable skills are also a lesson from those high school days - where asking questions and being curious paid dividends. And to always be grateful for great mentors. I went to on to become a journalist and also used those skills to run a bed and breakfast, be a fundraiser, manage an advertising and promotion department and now run my own. business as a social media and branding strategist and speaker. And finally: Be curious. Be non-judgmental.
