About us
Tides is a nonprofit and philanthropic organization committed to advancing social justice. We work across the social sector to shift power to groups historically denied power. Centering equity and justice in everything we do, we collaborate in deep partnership with movement leaders, nonprofits, donors, foundations, and corporations to amplify the impact of their work by providing services like fiscal sponsorship, donor advised funds, grant making, and a variety of innovative solutions.

In Pennsylvania, which could decide the outcome of the next presidential election, only 54% of eligible Asian voters are registered to vote. Many speak languages other than English. The Asian American Community Fund of Pennsylvania (AACFPA), a grantee partner with Tides Foundation's Healthy Democracy Fund, is tracking voter registrations that are stuck in “pending” to make sure they're processed and communicating with AAPI voters in 22 languages to help naturalized citizens register to vote. In Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton launched a baseless investigation against Jolt Initiative, an organization focused on increasing civic participation for Latinos. Despite this investigation, Jolt Initiative continues to organize young people to vote. In Arizona, Voto Latino and One Arizona intervened in a lawsuit that could have prevented nearly 100,000 voters from voting in state elections, including the state’s ballot measure on abortion access. In New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Youth Movement is challenging new proof of citizenship requirements that make it much harder for students and young people to vote. Across the country, lies about noncitizen voting are fueling voter suppression. With support from Tides Foundation's Healthy Democracy Fund, these groups are fighting back: https://lnkd.in/em7-N9JG

With an inclusive democracy in peril, this is our ask right now: act. Give money. Give time. Get creative: think about what you can do to fight voter suppression and make sure every voice is heard. Tides CEO Janiece Evans-Page talked with Raben's "The Ask" podcast about how Tides is shifting power to communities who have been historically excluded from participating in our nation’s future. From an organizer at Down Home North Carolina, a grantee partner with Tides Foundation's Healthy Democracy Fund: "I can’t even explain to you the work that’s happening. This is once in a lifetime stuff. They are reaching people that firefighters, emergency services haven’t been able to reach, finding ways to areas that haven’t been reached by officials, literally mapping out the county and establishing supply distribution lines that no one has been to yet. I don’t know how we'll tell the story of this... Incredible work is happening here." Read our guide on how to help after Hurricane Helene: https://lnkd.in/ecQAM29Y
