Meet Nicole, Tidewater Tech's Director of Education! Growing up around her grandfather’s mechanic shop, she developed a love for cars. Her passion deepened when her dad challenged her to restore a 1975 Dodge Dart, making her the go-to for repairs among family and friends. After starting a career in education, she faced one of life's many challenges that led to a gap in her resume. Thankfully, Mrs. Denise Hayes hired her as a campus registrar. Recognizing her passion for automotive work, Mr. Roger Damron and Mrs. Paula Massey provided her with opportunities for certifications and leadership training. This led to her role as Assistant Program Coordinator of Automotive, and she later joined the Executive Leadership Program, gaining valuable skills and confidence. Now, as the Director of Education, she is committed to inspiring the next generation of automotive professionals. Her journey is a testament to resilience and the power of support.

Meet Kai, an inspiring Welding student at Tidewater Tech! Seven months into her program, she’s just one certification away from achieving her goals. Kai has highlighted that her most memorable experiences have been the meaningful relationships and friendships she’s cultivated during her time here. At Tidewater Tech, we pride ourselves on being more than just an educational institution; we are a supportive community. We're thrilled that Kai has found her place with us! As she prepares to embark on her career with Dragados, we wish her all the success and positivity in the world. A special shout-out to our incredible women in Welding! Your determination and talent are paving the way for future generations.

Tidewater Tech is honored to support Winterfest on the Wisconsin at Nauticus for a fourth year. Our carpentry students enjoyed this service learning project focusing on wooden cutouts in the shape of a famous elf. Nauticus will now begin the painting process in preparation for the holiday season. Be sure to check out Winterfest starting 11/7 in the City of Norfolk, VA, where active duty and retired military receive free entry courtesy of Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Centura College, and Tidewater Tech.

This past week, our Building and Construction students and Instructor Mr. Lee had the opportunity of being interviewed by WTKR News 3 for a news feature about the upcoming WinterFest on the Wisconsin at Nauticus. This marks Tidewater Tech's fourth year sponsoring this event, and we are proud to serve as the official Military Appreciation Sponsor. Active Duty Service Members will receive complimentary entry from Veteran's Day through January. We take great pride in providing our students opportunities to give back to the community while applying their skills and passion for the trades.
