I know it feels sketchy to you freight brokers and carriers when you can't reach a company on the phone that you are trying to work with. It makes you wonder if they are a real person, doesn't it? Maybe it is safer to avoid those brokers and carriers, to reduce the chance of filing on their insurance if things go bad. Especially when their insurance producer will not help you either.

I'm very interested to hear opinions on cross docking and load consolidation that is done without the shipper or freight brokers knowledge. These photos were shared with us by a trucking company that also offers warehousing. He became concerned when he witnessed on multiple occasions, the removal of truck seals in a way that allowed them to be reattached and appear untampered with. He became even more concerned when the same carrier left frozen food on his 90+ degree dock this summer for nearly 24 hours, after being told it would be picked up in 15 minutes. If you know of any carriers that make this a regular practice, we would love to hear about it. Don't get Shanghaied!! That's what is happening to MC 626452. It has been about 6 weeks since scammers created a Gmail account and started using his setup packet to book loads. (Reminder to carriers... Make sure you try to qualify your freight brokers before you send them all of your information) These scammers tried to book with one of ours yesterday, and all the usual red flags were there. They asked for a fuel advance via Zelle, would not answer the phone when called, and only would communicate by email. And yes, the certificate had been forged but not in the obvious ways, and you probably wouldn't even notice if you didn't have serious trust issues like Bannon. It was nice getting to know the broker that brought this to our attention but honestly we spent WAY too much time looking at this MC. And I want to remind you the MC is (probably) not bad, just the people that stole his identity. But it made for a good post because of this. The carrier is an intrastate box truck carrier in Georgia. The load the scammers were trying to book was not in Georgia, and was for moving large, heavy machinery. I would bet there are at least a few loads this scammer has successfully double brokered because the authority and equipment was overlooked. And now, a Moment of Zen photo by Tim Bannon.

We saw a very disturbing post yesterday by John Cantera, Jr., MBA. He warned every owner operator, freight broker, really anyone in transportation about the #scumbag Sean Mabe You should head over to John's page and see that post. It will infuriate you, as it should. When I saw the post, I thought it would be the perfect MC to check with The Bannon Reports new Artificial Intelligence tool. These are the results it produced.

There is so much being discussed about the way Carrier 411 is handling freight guards lately. When we start seeing people on LinkedIn throwing around the “Liability” word, it may be time to think about how Bannon does things. Alex Lockie with Overdrive, John Cantera, Jr., MBA with @Stop the Scam, and Carrier Defender just to name a few, have all voiced valid concerns about 411. To be honest, all this hoopla has made us question if we are safe posting about carriers that are bad according to Bannon. I mean, we don’t want to get into a legal situation. So, if you want to report a carrier to The Bannon Report, and you want us to share it on LinkedIn, you must send supporting documents. Without proof that you were dealing with a real scumbag, I can’t say things like, Rocky Mountain Freight Inc, MC 1590269 is a total scam. They are nothing more than 1 of dozens of MC’s created for the sole purpose of forging insurance COI’s with fake insurance producer information, to be used to double broker or steal freight. They get a Progressive policy for 1 vehicle, then they forge the COI to include additional trucks, and create a fake insurance producer to control those COI requests. When Rocky Mountain Freight sets up with a freight broker, they will email their “Insurance agent” and copy the freight broker in the email. Moments later the freight broker will receive a fake COI, and at that point, the scammers hope you don’t follow the Bannon LinkedIn page.

MC 1604810 did not get setup with one broker on Tuesday when they tried to book 33' of product coing from CA to FL. The 2 main reasons the carrier was not onboarded were they have an INTRASTATE authority, and insure 1 cargo van with considerably less than 33 feet of space. Does that behavior warrant a DNU tag?

Sorry if my graphic is too small to read. Here is the Gist. Progressive Insurance uses an 'email.progressive.com'. Scammers are sending fake COI's from 'emailprogressive.com'. Anyhoot, if you come across something like this with Progressive, you can send an email to phishing@email.progressive.com

Are you a freight broker who gets excited when you get a random phone call from a shipper that wants you to move a load? Well, if you get a phone call or an order that seems too good to be true, slow down, and make sure it’s from the real company. I spoke recently with an importer, and he has been dealing with an imposter that is placing POs with companies under his name and business information with a fake, but similar domain name. In a recent event, the fake got approved credit and placed an order with a supplier of solar equipment. When the order was ready, the scammers contacted a freight broker, who found a carrier that could pick up in. Torrance Ca, and deliver it to New York. Fortunately, the freight broker and the carrier figured out early in transit that they had been scammed, and the load was returned. This has not always been the case. Often when the company that sold goods to the fake company finally took the time to research and find the true company, its only after they had been ghosted.
