TK PR specializes in earned media coverage for travel, hospitality & luxury brands. Simply put, we make brands sparkle.
About us
TK PR is a boutique public relations firm that specializes in hospitality, tourism and consumer product brands seeking National media exposure. The award winning firm, started in 2008 by Taryn Scher in Greenville, South Carolina, has established itself as a firm that delivers results to its clients, going above and beyond the call of duty and exceeding expectations. As our tagline says- New York Results with a Touch of Southern Charm- we bring classic Southern hospitality to the media universe and land major results. We seek traditional “Earned Media.” This means we don’t pay for our stories. We are storytellers ourselves and do this through outreach to journalists in television, newspaper, magazine, and online mediums. We work to develop story ideas that are timely and relevant, that honor the current news cycle and storylines. We will find story leads and opportunities and make sure you are positioned in the best possible way. We will also guide you on the best ways to amplify the results we obtain in the press through your social media channels, marketing materials, website and more. We aren’t just your PR firm. We are a strategic partner that works with you to develop programs and initiatives that will attract media attention. We know what the media are looking for and will help you to find – and create when necessary- those stories. Ultimately, your success is our success.

Greenville is going to sparkle brighter than ever this June!
Join me and Tyler Florence this June at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Travel + Tourism conference in VisitGreenvilleSC. Tyler will keynote the first day of the conference and later that afternoon I'll be joining Kelsey Ogletree, Terry Ward, Luisana Suegart and Ronny Maye for a lively discussion of the dos and don'ts of modern press trips and hosted visits in 2024. I know I'm probably a little biased, but this is going to be the BEST PRSA Travel conference EVER. Check out the incredible media panelists and breakout sessions and come hang out with me! https://lnkd.in/ePCJiK4J

Can you spot the sparkle?
Was it a dream? Yesterday was one of those surreal days that you don't really process until long after it's over. Months of planning. Hundreds of phone calls and emails. But truly the best part of this incredible experience was the collaboration across the entire state of South Carolina- from the mountains to the coast- this could NEVER have happened without the team efforts from Hilton Head Health, VisitGreenvilleSC and Discover South Carolina as well as the additional support from City of Greenville, South Carolina and Hilton Head Island Visitor & Convention Bureau. I've always believed that when we team up with others we can make bigger things happen than if we got at it alone and this was the perfect example of what happens when forces join together for maximum impact. A rising tide floats all ships
When we work together we ALL win. Eight months in the making, yesterday The Today Show announced their Start Today Challenge will hit the road and visit South Carolina this February- broadcasting live from Greenville & Hilton Head Health, thanks to teamwork and collaboration to shine a spotlight on these 2 destinations on one of TV's biggest platforms. https://lnkd.in/eV4YZKtD Why go at it alone when you can team up and make an even bigger splash? One of the "travel trends" we are getting the most requests for recently is for indigenous tourism (though I don't think this "trend" is going to away anytime soon). As a PR professional it's imperative to realize not every destination can be part of this conversation. If you are going to promote offerings in your destination be certain you are doing it in a respectful and authentic way. Visit Macon is a fantastic example of a city that's doing it right. Thank you Christopher Elliott for spotlighting them & some other destinations that 'get it'. #makeitsparkle https://lnkd.in/eQtXi__4

We've been working with Hilton Head Health for almost 10 years. The last few years have honestly been HARD. There was a point when most media would not even use the term "weight loss" let alone want to talk about a resort where the primary goal is to learn healthier diet and exercise habits, despite the fact that it's one of the most incredible places I've ever visited and no one there will ever judge you or make you feel badly about your appearance. Thanks to the 2 Os (Ozempic and Oprah) suddenly weight loss is EVERYWHERE. Every news outlet is buzzing about it again- and I couldn't be more excited to share this incredible account from Terri Peters of her own experience at HHH after underoing bariatric surgery last year, losing 100 pounds and then searching for the tools to maintain a healthy lifestyle. https://lnkd.in/ej_CnFBd Over the years I've heard countless stories from guests about how this place has changed their life- whether they needed to lose 50 pounds or none at all and just simply needed a mental reset. I am so excited that HHH can finally get the attention it deserves for all the good they do to help people on their wellness journey. #makeitsparkle

I'm excited and humbled to share that I won the Smart PR Best Overall Pitch of the Year for my Where to Go in 2023 pitch that landed not 1 but 2 clients in The New York Times' 52 Places to Go list. Of 82 semi-finalists, Michael Smart said this was one of “the most incredible earned media successes I’ve ever seen” I also won the Best Vertical category for the cover story of Southern Living featuring Haig Point/ Daufuskie Island and 3 other client wins (VisitGreenvilleSC, Visit Macon and The Equestrian Hotel within that same issue) There are hard days in PR, days when you question everything you know. And then there are the really good days when you regain confidence, dig down deeper to push harder, do more, and keep on sparkling. Thank you Michael Smart Inner Circle for celebrating all of our wins. I'll work even harder in 2024 to be worthy of this incredible recognition.
