About us
Food is more than just sustenance — it's a powerful way to connect with our heritage, community, and each other. Our fast casual restaurant, Tocabe, an American Indian Eatery, is one of the country’s only American Indian-owned and operated restaurants. Our online commerce site, Tocabe Indigenous Marketplace, connects people to Indigenous ingredients and ready-made meals. In everything we do, we are committed to sourcing ingredients from Native producers and embracing Indigenous traditions alongside contemporary approaches. We are on a mission to nourish people from Seed to Soul. We purchase from Native producers whenever possible to promote food sovereignty, strengthen local economies, and revitalize Indigenous cultures. For every order Tocabe Indigenous Marketplace receives, we donate ingredients or ready-made meals to Native communities around the country. Our goal is to create a sustainable supply chain that makes wholesome, high quality, culturally meaningful food accessible. We are rebuilding the original American food system.

Thank you to everyone who supported the inaugural One Lacrosse Gathering Celebration! 🥍 Is amazing to see so much great coverage of the event. Check out the latest feature in The Washington Post. Excerpt and link to full article below. It was the first gathering of its kind on the National Mall, in preparation for the first Olympics in over a century to feature America’s first team sport. Organized by the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, the event drew Native Americans from throughout the country who hope a confederation of tribes will be allowed to compete as a nation in the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. The idea for the One Lacrosse Gathering originated with fitness council member Ben Jacobs a member of the Osage Nation and co-founder of an Indigenous restaurant and market in Denver. Jacobs has worked with the federal government to promote local, traditional and nutritious food for tribal communities and saw the lacrosse festival as a way to expand his advocacy and to shake up lacrosse’s reputation as a wealthy suburban sport. “This is a game that is designed for all,” he said. “It’s a game of diversity and inclusion, about respect and determination. So we want to share that as Native people to the American public.” #OneLacrosse #PresidentsCouncil #Sports #Fitness #Nutrition #lacrosse #Olympics https://lnkd.in/gq65Y6eq
