From his unforgettable fall at the Acropolis in Athens in 1974, to the awe he felt encountering Etienne Liotard’s Chocolate Maid in Dresden in 1984, to the magnetic pull of Jackson Pollock’s Blue Poles at MoMA in 1999, and the extraordinary connection with Frans Hals’s Van Campen Family Portrait in London in 2010 – Lawrence Nichols's journey through the art world has been nothing short of transformative. In an upcoming lecture, Lawrence will explore this emotional phenomenon, known as Stendhal Syndrome, sharing his personal experiences with masterpieces by van der Weyden, Raphael, Caravaggio, and many others. He’ll also highlight the profound impact of Kyoto temples, Iznik pottery, and I.M. Pei’s architecture. Join us in exploring the power of art to inspire, provoke, and move us.
