Groundbreaking news from Tomorrow.io! 🚨 📡 🛰️ Tomorrow.io, the world's leading Resilience Platform™, today announced the successful launch of its first two microwave sounder satellites. This milestone marks a significant advancement for Tomorrow.io in transforming global weather forecasting, early warning systems, and climate resilience. These sounder-equipped satellites mark the next phase in Tomorrow.io's expanding constellation, aiming to provide unprecedented sub-hourly global atmospheric measurements of temperature, humidity, precipitation, and tropical cyclones—a first for the commercial sector. "With our microwave sounders, we can set a new standard in atmospheric data collection and prediction," said Rei Goffer, Co-Founder, and Chief Strategy Officer of Tomorrow.io, "This technology allows us to capture atmospheric data with exceptional accuracy, especially over oceans and remote areas where traditional observations are scarce.” The launch of these satellites comes at a crucial time in the advancement of AI technology. Tomorrow.io's expanding constellation of weather satellites is creating a critical missing link: high-resolution, global data for training and initializing AI models with real-time observations. This data will not only enhance the accuracy of Tomorrow.io's own models but also has the potential to significantly advance the field of weather prediction and climate modeling. This advancement builds upon Tomorrow.io's groundbreaking Pathfinder radar satellites (https://lnkd.in/gTJDzK9A) which launched in 2023 and have demonstrated performance that matches or exceeds NOAA's NEXRAD benchmark for rainfall measurement. (https://lnkd.in/g3PbyUi6) The addition of microwave sounders further expands the company's observational capabilities, with early data showing promising insights. The satellites are now undergoing initial commissioning, with preliminary datasets expected in the coming weeks. Tomorrow.io's sounder technology is derived from NASA’s TROPICS mission, and the company is concurrently set to rebuild NOAA’s digital infrastructure through the Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) program. The company will continue expanding its constellation, advancing its Resilience Platform™ to address the growing challenges posed by extreme weather and climate change.

We're thrilled to share that Tomorrow.io has successfully launched its 7th and 8th satellites, S5 and S6, into orbit! Both are already transmitting data, another major milestone in filling critical gaps in global weather monitoring, capturing high-resolution data where traditional observations are lacking. Each launch strengthens our ability to detect, track, and anticipate extreme weather with greater precision. This progress comes at a critical time. Just hours after our launch, devastating storms swept across the U.S., producing tornadoes and destructive winds that claimed lives and destroyed communities. The contrast couldn't be more stark—celebrating technological advancement while witnessing exactly why it's needed. While many labeled these storms "unpredictable," our mission is to eliminate that word from our vocabulary. Every satellite brings us closer to a world where communities receive the early warnings they deserve. More launches are coming. The time to act isn't tomorrow—it's now.

This weekend, I watched two things unfold in real time: The successful launch of Tomorrow.io's 7th and 8th satellites into orbit and, just hours later, devastating storms tearing across the U.S. These systems produced tornadoes, destructive winds, and wildfires across the Midwest and South, leaving communities in Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, and beyond facing widespread power outages and extensive damage. Emergency declarations, tornado warnings, and evacuation orders flashed across screens while our team was still celebrating our successful deployment. Many called the storms "unpredictable" due to their rapid intensification and shifting paths. But it's not true. What we call "unpredictable" is simply a gap in our observational capabilities, which is exactly what we're solving. The juxtaposition of our satellite launch and these storms wasn't just coincidence. It was a stark reminder of why our mission matters. We're putting eyes in the sky precisely because we refuse to accept "unpredictable" as the status quo. With every satellite we deploy, we're transforming how we see, understand, and prepare for extreme weather, giving communities the critical time they need before disaster strikes. The time to move faster isn't tomorrow. It's now.

We’re excited to announce the successful launch of Tomorrow.io's 7th and 8th satellites—S5 and S6—into orbit on Friday! These new microwave sounder-equipped satellites are already transmitting data, bringing us closer to a future where no critical weather event goes unseen. The timing is particularly meaningful. Just hours after our launch, devastating storms began tearing across the Midwest and Southern United States, producing tornadoes, destructive winds, and fueling wildfires that have left communities facing extensive damage. Many called the storms "unpredictable" due to their rapid intensification and shifting paths. But unpredictable simply means we need better data, more real-time observations, and stronger forecasting systems. That’s exactly what we’re building. With every satellite we launch, we’re closing forecasting gaps, enabling earlier warnings, and providing the insights needed to protect people, infrastructure, and businesses before disaster strikes. Extreme weather isn’t waiting. Neither can we.
