Dedicated to making life better for the Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorder community across the nation for 50 years.
About us
The Tourette Association of America is the premier nationwide organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by Tourette Syndrome (TS) and related Tic Disorders, who are frequently misunderstood by the general public and the medical community. Our efforts are focused on “awareness, research and support.” The TAA is the largest and most active national network working to educate the general public and the medical community about TS to: • Raise public awareness and foster social acceptance • Advance scientific understanding, treatment options and care • Educate professionals to better serve the needs of children, adults and families challenged by Tourette and Tic Disorders • Advocate for public policies and services that promote positive school, work and social environments • Provide help, hope and a supportive community across the nation • Empower our community to deal with the complexities of this spectrum of disorders Today it is estimated that 1 in 160 (0.6%) school-aged children in the United States has Tourette and that 1 in 100 school-aged children in the United States has TS or another Tic Disorder. Thousands of children and adults may be experiencing the wide range of often misinterpreted behaviors associated with TS and Tic Disorders without understanding the cause—or realizing that help is available. This can result in life-long learning or emotional issues, which could be prevented. Visit Tourette.org to learn more!

"All Things Metal" is a short documentary film about brothers living with #TouretteSyndrome who operate a family-owned forge in Santa Barbara, CA. After-hours, their forge turns into an impromptu film set where they make heavy metal music videos as an ode to their favorite genre. We are so excited to see art highlighted from members of the TS and #TicDisorder community in such a huge way! 📺 Watch the short film on Documentary+ and RollingStone.com. #Tourettes #TourettesAwareness

I am not shy when it comes to bragging about my beautiful wife. She is the most loving, caring, and thoughtful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend that I know. Let's don't forget her determination, work ethic, and continued success to improve herself personally, and professionally everyday. She has done all of this while living a life with Tourette's Syndrome since she was 11 years old. I am so proud to hear her tell her story in this upcoming 3-part interactive series about women living with TS. She will be hosting Part 3 of this series, and I encourage everyone to listen. If you would like more information on the event please comment below or reach out. Tourette Association of America, Jenny McNary-McIlvain

TAA President & CEO, Amanda Mandaglio Talty, MPA, Director of Volunteer & Affiliate Services, Elizabeth Barker, MBA, and Connecticut Chapter Leader, Rachel Jacobellis, were very grateful to connect with the Connecticut Community Foundation, whose support helped us raise #TouretteSyndrome and #TicDisorder awareness to over 5,000 CT residents. We are excited to continue our work together in this area, engaging with more schools and communities.
Last Friday's Community Conversations breakfast in Woodbury was inspiring! It was wonderful to connect, hear about your organizations, and discuss the challenges and opportunities in our region. Your insights highlighted the need for consistent communication and collaboration as we build a more equitable and inclusive Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills. #woodburyct #litchfieldhills #connecticut
