In celebration of its 125th anniversary, the Pennsylvania Municipal League (PML) brought its Member Appreciation Tour to Altoona on March 21, 2025. Each spring, the League holds district meetings across its six regions, providing members with legislative updates, as well as information on programs, services, and professional development opportunities. Attendees from Ferguson Township included Centrice Martin, M.Ed., PML First Vice President and Ferguson Township Manager; Jaymes Progar, PML District Meeting Vice Chair and Ferguson Township Assistant Manager; and Kendy Alvarez, Mayor of Lewisburg and Ferguson Township Economic Development Coordinator. The Township was presented with a commemorative plaque in honor of The League's 125th Anniversary and its membership in the PML.

On Friday, January 10, 2025, Daniel Lewis of the Ferguson Township Police Department was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in a ceremony held at the Ferguson Township Municipal Building. The event, officiated by Magisterial District Judge Casey McClain, was attended by Ferguson Township staff, as well as family and friends of Lieutenant Lewis.  Lieutenant Lewis has served the residents of Ferguson Township for 13 years. To achieve the rank of Lieutenant, he went through the promotional process that included a structured, scenario-based interview, two presentations including one outlining a substantial change to operations within the police department. This interview panel not only consisted of Ferguson Township staff, but also included Chiefs of Police from outside agencies and other local government Directors who assessed his ability to handle the responsibilities of the Lieutenant’s position. Acting Chief Shawn Morrison noted, “There was no question that Dan is ready to take the next step in his career. Dan has the skills, aptitude, and right attitude to assist in leading the Ferguson Township Police into a new future.” Ferguson Township extends its congratulations to Lieutenant Lewis on his promotion! https://lnkd.in/eBS5cTUV

It was a fantastic 2024 Municpal Leadership Summit held in Scranton. The Summit prioritized a focus to elevate the support and resources while advancing civility in areas of public safety, financial resilience, & public infrastructure improvements. And a warm congratulations to Derek Slaughter for his leadership as he was sworn in to serve as the President of the Pennsylvania Municipal League at the Summit! And a shout out to the Exectuve Director John Brenner & his staff for all the work done by the League for the cities, townships, and boroughs in Pennsylvania.
