There's no other way to put it: if you're an entrepreneur, you *need* to get used to rejection. Even at this stage of my career, I still hear "no" more often than I hear "yes". What will set you apart is your reaction to these rejections and the changes you make as a result ↓

Are you in the process of disrupting a market with your new idea? Sometimes disruptions isn't about producing a new product. Some of the most innovative companies just changed one thing---the way they allowed customers to PAY FOR their product. An example of this is Netflix. They disrupted the movie rental industry not by reinventing movies, but by introducing a subscription model that allowed customers to pay a flat monthly fee to access an extensive library of content—no more late fees, no per-movie charges. Here are a few other companies that revolutionized their industries simply by changing how customers paid: 1️⃣ Dollar Shave Club – Instead of buying razors at the store, Dollar Shave Club offered a subscription box model for razors delivered to your door at a low monthly fee. They didn’t change razors—they changed how you bought them. 2️⃣ Peloton – They sold stationary bikes, but their innovation came in pairing it with a monthly subscription for live and on-demand fitness classes, turning a one-time purchase into a recurring revenue model. 3️⃣ Adobe – Once known for selling expensive software packages like Photoshop, Adobe shifted to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, allowing users to pay a small monthly fee instead of a hefty one-time cost. 4️⃣ Apple – With the launch of Apple Music, they transitioned from selling individual songs or albums to offering a music subscription service that gave users unlimited access for a flat monthly fee, taking on the likes of Spotify. You see it's not rocket science what they did. They just did something differently. You have to be willing to try new things if you're seeking to grow and expand your company. Need help working through the innovation process without blowing through all of your resources? We'd be happy to help your team. Reach out to us at https://lnkd.in/gCve_R53 #tpmfocus #innovation

When expanding internationally, understanding the cultural context of your target market is critical. The U.S. market operates differently, and what works elsewhere may not translate well here. This is where having a local presence becomes invaluable. Without boots on the ground, it’s challenging to navigate the nuances that can make or break your customer relationships. #tpmfocus #strategy

Having worked with Clients all across the world, I can assure anyone thinking of doing business in the US from an international standpoint MUST understand these facts and adjust plans and expectations accordingly: 1️⃣ Entering the U.S. market without a detailed financial plan is a risky move. A SOLID financial forecast aligned with your business goals is essential for securing the necessary resources and making informed decisions. This isn’t just about numbers—it’s about ensuring your business can sustain and grow in a new environment. 2️⃣ DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT outsource your sales on a commission-only basis to someone in the US and expect to meet your financial goals with no other resources in the US. I see this happen so often and it's outsourced to entry level sales yet with expectation to bring in millions in revenue. That's entirely unrealistic. If that was the norm, everyone would be doing it---including US-based companies. 3️⃣ The value of LOCAL expertise is undeniable when you're entering the U.S. market. You can’t underestimate the importance of having someone who knows the local business landscape, customer expectations, and market dynamics. A local partner can bridge gaps that would otherwise hinder your growth. For anyone hoping to do business in the US and willing to make an investment in setting your company up for success, YOU CAN DO IT. If shortcuts are your plan, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. It's not as easy as it looks. And for those who have questions about doing business in the U.S. that are not citizens, the answer is YES, YOU CAN do business without being a citizen. There's more about the topic in a blog post in the comments. #tpmfocus #strategy #internationalbusiness #innovation

Many companies claim to be customer-focused but often lack a thorough understanding of their customer's needs and behaviors. What are you using to measure how well you're doing? We recommend, at the minimum, metrics like Net Promoter Score (NPS) to gauge customer sentiment and loyalty. If you were to measure today, what do you think they'd say? At TPM Focus, we recently received feedback from a few of our customers. This is what was shared:

The AI-powered future is fast approaching. Are you preparing? We are working with clients to help them figure out where applications of AI are likely to be relevant to their business operations. Here's another indication that the tech world is preparing for AI: "The owners of roughly a third of U.S. nuclear-power plants are in talks with tech companies to provide electricity to new data centers needed to meet the demands of an artificial-intelligence boom." ~ WSJ https://lnkd.in/e_Hsxw6g? #ai #nuclear #strategy #innovation #tpmfocus

Consider the rise of AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others. Many of us are now willingly paying for these services. But what are we really paying for? At their core, these tools are enhanced search engines - they're accessing, processing, and presenting information more quickly and efficiently than traditional search. This shift reveals a crucial insight about innovation and commercialization: Enhanced Value: These AI tools offer a superior search experience - faster, more comprehensive, and often with direct answers rather than just links. Time Efficiency: They save us valuable time by synthesizing information from multiple sources. Customization: Many offer personalized responses tailored to our specific queries. Novel Capabilities: They can perform tasks traditional search engines can't, like writing, coding, or analysis. What we're witnessing is a masterclass in product evolution and monetization. The tech industry has effectively transitioned us from free, basic search to paid, enhanced search - not by directly charging for existing services, but by introducing new, more powerful tools that we perceive as worth paying for. This transformation highlights a key principle of innovation: often, the market doesn't explicitly ask for new solutions because it can't envision what's possible. Have you found value in paid AI tools vs the legacy versions? #Innovation #AI #TechTrends #ProductStrategy #DigitalTransformation
