Today, on #IntersexAwarenessDay, we honor the millions of people who make up 2% of the population yet all too often have their rights disregarded — intersex individuals who have variations in sex traits like reproductive anatomy, chromosomes, or hormone levels. Intersex Awareness Day marks the first public demonstration by intersex people 27 years ago on October 26, 1996, demanding an end to medical abuse and asserting a basic human right to bodily autonomy. 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ As a trans-led organization, one of Transinclusive Group's core values is a belief in the importance of bodily autonomy and self-determination — the right of every individual to define their own identity, make informed choices about their bodies, and live with authenticity and dignity. Healthcare is a fundamental human right, and it must be accessible, consensual, and respectful of individual rights and freedoms. Learn more about the history of Intersex Awareness Day, how you can show your allyship, and how to get involved in the movement for intersex rights at: interACTadvocates.org 🌟
