We’re gratified to see Translating Aging at the top of the list of aging & longevity podcasts at AgingBiotech.info. Many thanks to our friend Karl R. Pfleger for compiling and updating this incredible resource for anyone seeking to learn more about the latest in geroscience and longevity biotech. As we gear up for the 2024 season — our fourth! — now is a great time to check out our back episodes. (Our most recent show, an interview with aging pioneer Cynthia Kenyon, is a good place to start for newcomers seeking historical background on our field!) New content coming soon, so make sure you're subscribed. Thanks for listening! https://lnkd.in/gb9x5pYe

Founder, AgingBiotech.info. Investor, rejuvenation biotech (only; don't pitch me on other stuff).

Announcing a big update of a small list: List of podcasts in the aging/longevity biotech field at AgingBiotech.info -> podcasts just overhauled: - several new shows added (up to 24 total now) - clearer description of to what extent each is topically on-target for aging biotech - global popularity score & counts of ratings on the major podcast platforms as backups - recency score based on months since last episode - aggregate ranking combining the above (default sort) Manually sortable by any column (like all the tables on the site). Direct link (that LinkedIn will prob shorten): https://lnkd.in/gsauUtpM There's a tradeoff between topicality & popularity here: The hard science & biotech (focusing on what's coming) doesn't have as broad an appeal as the health optimization with what's available now (lifestyle & current clinical practice) stuff. I've structured the rankings so that topicality is weighted more highly so that the stuff focused on the science of aging biology as it pertains to biotech development of next-generation interventions (the main focus of the site) is what goes to the top, but everything gets lowered if the podcast ends and gets increasingly out of date. This list is not meant to be comprehensive with respect to the health optimization type podcasts. There are too many, but the ones included are particularly notable or do dip their toes enough into aging & longevity for inclusion.

This week we talk with the founders of Arda Therapeutics, a biotechnology company developing novel therapies to selectively eliminate harmful cell populations driving chronic diseases. In this episode, CEO Adam Freund and CTO Remi-Martin Laberge discuss their innovative approach to treating illnesses by identifying and removing specific pathogenic cell types — rather than trying to modify cellular behavior through traditional drug-based approaches. Translating Aging is produced by BioAge Labs, a clinical-stage biotechnology company that is harnessing the biology of human aging to develop novel targets and therapies for metabolic diseases. Thirty years ago this week, Cynthia Kenyon published a groundbreaking paper entitled “A C. elegans mutant that lives twice as long as wild type”—revealing that lifespan is under genetic control. That study, along with others published around the same time, have led some observers of the field to identify the early 90s as the dawn of the modern biology of aging. In this episode, Dr. Kenyon shares her perspective on how our field has grown and changed over the past three decades.
