Estes Park's famous Stanley Hotel served as inspiration for Steven King's The Shining, thanks in part to a nightmare he had during his stay. Spooky season fanatics can tour the hotel, along with other ghost tours in the city. And for those looking for something slightly less haunted, the Rocky Mountains deliver their own kind of magic.

You've probably heard of Shark Week, but have you ever celebrated Bat Week? From Austin to Zambia, many cities around the world embrace bat tourism not only for its economic incentives, but as a means to promote bat conservation and awareness. These creatures may have historically carried a negative public image, but there's something quite magical about witnessing their nightly fly-out. Here are some of the best places to see them for yourself: http://spr.ly/6044UQYCY.

Before you travel, research the local regulations and situation on ride-share versus taxis. Personally, I favor ride-sharing apps for convenience and transparency of price. However, some destinations have aggressive policies or views against using ride-share apps and someone may experience harassment for using ride-share instead of a taxis. For instance, ride-share drivers may not be able to pick you up at the airport (you may have to walk across the street) and hotels may not like ride-share drivers picking you up at the front of the property. On the other hand, ride-share can be unregulated and therefore unsafe in some destinations, so instead use a licensed taxi driver as the best option. – Thomas, Creative and User Experience
