We’re excited to announce the release of Travel Guide to Oregon Indian Country. This publication and related web content is a product of yearlong collaboration with all nine of Oregon’s federally recognized tribes and driven by the editorial vision of a tribal subcommittee. The guide offers resources and inspiration for visiting tribal regions to help boost impact to tribal economies. It includes ways to respect the land, history and cultures Indigenous people have occupied since time immemorial. About us
Do you have a passion for Oregon, an appreciation of the unpredictable and somewhat maverick nature of this place we call home? Working for Travel Oregon is much more than a job. It is a life less ordinary, an eternal quest for the next farm-to-table meal, powdery slope, coastal sunrise, or cultural experience. Collaborating with stakeholders and partners to align as stewards of Oregon, we work to optimize economic opportunity, advance equity, and respect the ecosystems, cultures and places that make Oregon … Oregon. We are committed to a vision of Oregon that is a welcoming destination where tourism drives economic prosperity, benefits the natural environment, and celebrates rich, diverse cultures.

This week, the City of Coos Bay joined a short list of Oregon cities, including Albany, Astoria, Bend, Cottage Grove, Oregon City, Roseburg and Salem, that have earned the right to claim the name of Oregon Heritage All-Star Community. Many thanks to Heather Christenbury, the Executive Director, Curator & Collections Manager of Coos History Museum, for chatting with us about what the designation means for the city, the impact of heritage tourism on the local economy and the many partners working collectively to share the unique cultural heritage of Coos Bay.

Exciting to see plans for the first accessible and inclusive playground on the Oregon Coast at Schooner Creek Discovery Park in Lincoln City. Travel Oregon was proud to help support this work (and other accessibility initiatives both on the coast and statewide) through our 2023 Competitive Grants Program. This is an inspiring example of exactly what our grants program is designed to do--enhance local economies, build equity and strengthen communities through visitor industry improvements and promotion. We're proud to see all of the amazing work happening across the state to make Oregon welcoming and accessible to all! #accessibletravel #inclusivetourism

A huge thank you to Courtney Braun, co-owner of Wanderlust Tours, for talking with us about the impact guided experiences can have on visitors, local communities and the environment of Central Oregon—and the benefits of fostering connection and curiosity for both travelers and residents. Such inspiring and meaningful work!
