I joined Yahoo Finance anchor Josh Lipton on “Asking for a Trend” to talk about consumer demand, travel trends, and our strong Q3 earnings. Four highlights: 1. Leisure travel remains strong Our high-end customers continue to drive performance. Post-COVID, #leisuretravel isn’t seen as discretionary anymore. 2. Shifting travel preferences #Florida remained popular despite hurricanes, while the Smoky Mountains, Pacific Northwest, and National Parks are seeing more demand. Las Vegas and Orlando dipped, but I expect these markets to bounce back. 3. Longer stays are the norm The “#workfromanywhere” trend continues to fuel longer stays. Our #vacationownership condos, 2-3 times the size of typical hotel rooms, are a perfect fit for families. 4. Rise of experiential travel People want to travel in a lifestyle that’s familiar. Our Sports Illustrated Resorts will cater to sports fans, starting with a resort in Tuscaloosa, Ala. — home of the University of Alabama, which has been featured on more SI covers than any other university. Travel + Leisure Co., the world’s leading vacation ownership and membership travel company, today reported third quarter 2024 financial results, with net income of $97 million, $1.39 diluted earnings per share from continuing operations, on net revenue of $993 million. Michael Brown, President and CEO of Travel + Leisure Co. “Our results this quarter show that we are executing well against our key priorities for the year and that demand for our products remains solid. We have good momentum in our Vacation Ownership business and were especially pleased with our VPG performance, which remains consistently above $3,000, even during our peak new owner mix quarters. "We have already begun setting our plans for 2025 and expect the momentum in our Vacation Ownership business to continue with our targeted new owner mix and ramping of Accor Vacation Club sales, with further benefit from our Travel and Membership transformation and easing of interest rate headwinds."
