From Montreal to Munich, the Global Travel & Trade team has been busy putting South Dakota on the map in both established and emerging markets. South Dakota was well represented at U.S. Travel Association's IPW in Los Angeles last month, thanks to more than 200 trade and media appointments with tour operators, travel agents and journalists from our target international markets. Newest Travel South Dakota team member Kyler joined the first-ever Brand USA Canada mission to further expand our outreach in this emerging market.

But the celebrating didn’t stop there. Travel South Dakota’s Katlyn Svendsen was recognized as one of the Top 25 Extraordinary Minds for 2023 for her exceptional accomplishments. Travel South Dakota is making its Big Game ad debut with a commercial spot reminding viewers that in addition to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, there's so much more to discover in South Dakota. In a creative effort to combat this "one-hit wonder" misperception, we collaborated with 2000's celebrated band Nine Days to rework their hit single "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" into a revamped "Absolutely (Story of a State)" - a catchy way of touting South Dakota's many exciting offerings. More than Mount Rushmore, South Dakota welcomes travelers to shed misconceptions, explore beyond its one-hit wonders, and embrace the undiscovered all four seasons.
