For those who like hard problems, battery development is for you! 🔋Moving a new battery technology past the lab and into user-relevant and production-relevant cells can be a significant challenge. 🔋Producing cells serially—first by hand building, then ultimately via semi-auto and full automation—comes with scale up challenges at every level...and a $250M+ price tag to achieve GWh/year scale production. 🔋Then packaging those cells together into a safe, working battery pack is yet another challenge. It doesn’t always make sense to do it all yourself. Working with manufacturing partners leverages their skills, capital equipment, and—most importantly—their lessons learned.
