We hosted a Harvest Festival for our neighbors at the Walnut Street Community Garden this past Saturday! We had a great time celebrating fall with delicious snacks, painting pumpkins, and planning for the garden next year. Plus, we were able to show Joseph Ciresi around the garden! Building resilient communities from the ground up through meaningful work, dynamic relationships and healthy land.
About us
Trellis is building resilient communities from the ground up. We provide programs and services to youth of ALL ages to ensure our community has meaningful work, dynamic relationships and healthy land. Through the lens of sustainability, we offer our partners and participants resources which promote health and well-being for themselves, their communities and the planet. We use parks, preserves and gardens as living classrooms to teach skills vital for personal resilience and collective benefit. Our key programs are: Food for All - a region-wide initiative to address food insecurity through organic gardens established for and in partnership with businesses, corporations, faith-based groups, and municipal organizations. Youth Environmental Stewardship - connecting young people with the world around them and teaching skills to care for themselves, their community and the environments in which they live. Youth Seed Enterprise - establishing organic gardens in food deserts and creating a platform for youth entrepreneurship, community engagement, new opportunities and lasting change. Thank you to Eisai US for your continued support! We had a crew come out and volunteer at LUNDALE FARM INC, helping us to plant fruit trees, harvest fall crops in advance of frost, and weed beds of cabbage and kale! Trellis’s work would not be possible without the many volunteers who support us throughout the season. Want to get into a garden and support our mission? Keep an eye on our website and Eventbrite page for future opportunities.

October 12 was #NationalFarmersDay! To celebrate, our friends at The GIANT Company donated $1,000 to Trellis for Tomorrow to support our work to nourish our communities. We were thrilled to have GIANT team members join us for a day of volunteering at our Rolling Hills Community Garden, helping us by harvesting produce, weeding beds, and laying woodchips. Thank you to GIANT – and thank you to all farmers for your hard work and dedication to feeding your communities!

Thank you for coming, Jenna Armato! The students really enjoyed learning new perspectives on leadership and communication both in the workplace and peer to peer. And they loved the hands on activities!

Thanks to Youth Program Manager, @PhillipBallantine, and the team at Trellis for Tomorrow for the opportunity to speak with students in the Take Root program and tour their Walnut Street Garden in Pottstown. Take Root is a paid work readiness program for students that's designed to teach valuable workplace and leadership skills and includes agricultural activities at various community gardens. What fantastic students! We talked about the importance of Communication and taking a Leadership view of Communication which means looking beyond your lens and seeing things from the perspectives of others. I so enjoyed a student led tour of the garden, learning about the planting and harvesting process, and seeing members of the neighborhood come pick up their fresh produce to prepare family meals! #TrellisForTomorrow #PottstownProud #Thankful #LetsDoThis

We had such a great time with volunteers from Eisai US and Crane Payment Innovations at the Walnut Street Community Garden in Pottstown this morning! Volunteers tamed some difficult weeds and, through a lot of teamwork, distributed wood chips uphill onto the paths throughout the garden. We ended the day by harvesting some sweet potatoes as a gift for our volunteer’s time and hard work. Thank you to everyone who joined us! Big thanks, too, to Crane PI for their generous donation and support for Trellis for Tomorrow. Trellis’s work would not be possible without the many volunteers who support us throughout the season. Want to get into a garden and support our mission? Keep an eye on our website and Eventbrite page for future opportunities.
