🌊 In celebration of #WorldOceansDay, we’re proud to highlight our collaborative efforts in recovering Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) in the Pacific Ocean to reduce marine pollution. Here are the projects we are most engaged in: In partnership with the Pacific Community and WWF, we are actively quantifying the number of stranded FADs and studying their potential impact on ecosystems in the Western and Central Pacific region. Through TUNACONS, we are involved in retrieving FADs in the Galapagos Islands, recycling and reusing them whenever possible. This initiative involves coordinated retrieval missions with local artisanal fishing associations, including vessels, crew, and support from authorities. 🤝 This day reminds us that safeguarding our oceans requires collective action. By working together, we can achieve our shared goal of preserving this invaluable resource for future generations. 🐟 On #WorldTunaDay, we’re pleased to announce another major sustainability milestone by obtaining Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for skipjack tuna in the Eastern Pacific for our Spanish and Ecuadorian fleet. The fleet already holds MSC certification for skipjack, bigeye, and yellowfin in the Western and Central Pacific, as well as yellowfin in the Eastern Pacific, with plans to include bigeye this year. Upon completion, all tuna caught by the fleet will meet MSC standards. This accomplishment provides positive recognition of our ongoing sustainability efforts in the conservation of tuna stocks, and increases our supply from vessels participating in MSC certified fisheries.
