Leadership is about people - full stop! If you don't have a passion for people, you have no business leading them. Be in leadership to motivate, inspire and empower others. At the end of the day, looking out for people is the essence of leadership. It is not about your title but rather your commitment to care about others. If we want employees to feel committed to the organization, we need to show that we respect and value them. The greatest investment you can make is in people. Agree? All employees should feel comfortable to ask questions, raise their concerns, suggest ideas and even make mistakes. Many organizations have been quick to jump on the “psychological safety” bandwagon but it seems as if they are just paying lip service. Employees don’t feel safe to speak up and fear retribution if they do so. When passionate employees become quiet, it is a sign the work environment has become toxic. Great leaders build an environment where diverse minds share their ideas without hesitation and fear. What you permit, you promote! Agree?
