If you are part of inclusive community and employment in Clark County (as a person with a disability, an employer, a community member), please consider sharing your experience. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month—let’s build awareness! Your story can help elected officials understand the policies and funding that promote inclusion. If they don’t hear what is working or where there are gaps in inclusion, they won’t know it should be a priority. Here are some tips and a guide to preparing your story. Thanks to our friends PEACE NW For School Board Meetings: This is an opportunity during the school board public input time to share information about National Disability Employment Awareness Month and your story. If you show up in person, you can sign in at the meeting that you would like to give public input. If you will be attending virtually you will need to sign up in advance. For the City and County Council meetings (except the City of Battleground): The National Disability Employment Awareness Month proclamation is on the agenda and will usually be read at the beginning of the meeting. Please plan to arrive early whether in person or virtually, because the meetings move pretty fast and our proclamation are usually read within the first 10-15 minutes of the meeting. An advisory board member or staff will accept the proclamation and say a few words. Public comment will come later in the meeting. This is where you will speak!
Tomorrow at noon: Employers Connect! Employers Connect is our new quarterly gathering designed to bring together business leaders and HR professionals to discuss best practices in supported employment and tackle common challenges. This session, we’re focusing on performance reviews—a crucial tool for driving team growth and ensuring employee satisfaction. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, learn, and share insights. RSVP on our website to get the Zoom link: https://lnkd.in/gB_fK2w8
