  • 🥦Nutrition Labels 101 🥕 Nutrition labels can be confusing 😵💫 Here are 3 key things to pay attention to when you are looking at Nutrition Labels so you can make the best decision for you and your goals! STEP 1: Start at the Top Check the serving size and calories per serving. Know the difference between serving size and portion size. The serving size is the amount of a specific food or drink that people typically consume. Portion size is the amount of food you choose to eat based on your goals. Know the calories you are consuming based on the serving size you measure out so that you can accurately track your food. STEP 2: Keep an Eye on Key Nutrients Protein and calories are KEY to seeing results so it’s important to start there! Then pay attention to other nutrients that are important to you - fiber, saturated fats, added sugars, iron, etc. What nutrients do you need to limit and what nutrients do you need to increase? STEP 3: Check Out the Ingredients The ingredients are listed in order of weight going from highest to lowest. Be cautious of blanket statements that you might hear on social media regarding ingredient lists. Fewer is not always best and if you cant pronounce it that doesn’t mean its bad for you. Educate yourself on why certain ingredients are used so you can make the best decision for you!
