Meet Diego Corona, HR Business Partner in Troon's Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL. We sat down with Diego and asked about his heritage and his HR role at Troon. Diego comments on his culture, "An interesting aspect of Hispanic culture is the tradition of using two surnames, which dates to the 1500s. This practice was established to help trace family lineages more accurately. By using both paternal and maternal surnames, it’s easier to track a person’s ancestry and understand family connections." One piece of advice Diego remembers receiving in his early days of HR work, “Listen actively before making decisions. Put yourself in their shoes. Remember, people are your greatest asset—invest in them.” What great advice! As for recruiting and sharing the career opportunities at Troon, Diego said, "I collaborate closely with my local Hispanic organization, HICA, as part of their Workforce Development Team." Our associates who volunteer or are involved in other organizations are able to share the opportunities within the Troon global network of facilities, For the full interview, visit --> https://ow.ly/kfGT50TtW0a #HispanicHeritageMonth #GolfForEveryone #WeAreTroon #ExperienceTroon #AttentivelyInclusive

SÍ SE PUEDE Latina women say “Yes We Can” to making golf part of their lives Azucena Maldonado knew she was onto something when 94 participants attended an exploratory Latina Women Golf Association event in 2008. But she had no idea the group she founded would grow to 3,500 members throughout Los Angeles County 16 years later. The first clinic they held, which more than 60 women attended, was held at Alhambra Golf Course, where a special bond was formed. “We always feel so welcome there,” said Maldonado. “We just feel at home. Fernando Vasquez, the general manager, and his team make our events run smoothly and really let us take over the place.” Using golf as a networking tool was not something Maldonado had seen done in the Hispanic community. “A lot of the women I would approach did not have a positive view of golf, so we worked really hard to transform that image,” she said. “Once they got a taste of it, they just all loved it. Our niche has been to empower women by teaching them how to use golf as a business tool.” For the full article visit ---> https://ow.ly/GHkV50TtW2Y #HispanicHeritageMonth #ExperienceTroon #GolfForEveryone #WeAreTroon

Last week, club leaders from across California gathered at the Troon Irvine office for an inspiring exchange of leadership insights, innovative ideas, and best practices. Corporate leaders from HR, Marketing, Agronomy, Operations, and Legal led dynamic sessions and Q&A discussions. While the content was valuable, the real highlight was the incredible network of first-class club leaders at the club level. A heartfelt thank you to all the GMs and AGMs who made the trip and contributed to such a productive and energizing meetup!

The Club at Eaglebrooke, a semi-private facility in Lakeland, Fla., will undergo a golf course renovation beginning in April 2025. The project is expected to take six months to complete and will focus on the course’s greens, while replacing bridges and bulkheads throughout the property. Mondragon Golf, a Bartow, Fla.-based golf course construction company, will oversee the project. The Club at Eaglebrooke will reopen for member and limited non-member/public play in October 2025. During the project, crews will rebuild all 18 greens to their original size/shape and resurface with Tifeagle Bermuda grass. The two bridges on hole 13 will be rebuilt, and the large bulkhead on hole 17 will be rebuilt. In addition to these projects the agronomy team at the facility will make select drainage, irrigation, tee box, and bunker improvements while the course is closed. “The upcoming renovation will boost our goal of becoming the best semi-private facility in the Lakeland area,” said Ryan Roberts, General Manager at The Club at Eaglebrooke. “When the course reopens next fall, non-member/public play will be more restricted. Therefore, if you are interested in joining The Club at Eaglebrooke, now is the best time – before initiation fees increase.” The Club at Eaglebrooke golf course was originally designed by architect Ron Garl and opened for play in 1996. Next year’s enhancement project will mark the first substantial renovations to Eaglebrooke’s greens since the course opened for play. The 6,917-yard, links-style course features natural lakes, abundant wildlife and has 100 feet of elevation change, which is unique in this part of Florida. In addition to golf, The Club at Eaglebrooke offers a full-service restaurant and banquet facilities that can accommodate up to 200 guests. Learn More at: https://lnkd.in/ghFFfAEH
