Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) has been transforming retail since 2017, enabling brands to build their own resale models and capitalize on the growing secondhand market. While many brands have already embraced this trend, new legislation makes early adoption increasingly crucial for the industry. The takeaway? Resale isn't just trending—it's becoming a business necessity. With enough clothes currently existing to dress the next six generations, brands are strategically positioning themselves for a more circular future. In a conversation with RESET - Digital for Good's Kezia Rice, Trove COO Jamin Nieri emphasized that "resale is no longer a 'nice to have'—it's a must-have to engage with consumers." As brands recognize the profit potential in resale, Nieri notes an encouraging ripple effect: companies are now focusing on producing higher-quality products that last longer. Trove's partnerships have already made a significant impact, diverting over 200,000 kg of waste from landfills in 2023 alone. The company continues to serve as a comprehensive solution for partners looking to capitalize on the resale boom. Holiday travel season is kicking off soon. As consumers gear up for one of the busiest travel periods of the year, the luggage industry will be focused on winning over the new generation of consumers looking to refresh their travel essentials. With the global luggage sector growing at a rate of 7.4% annually, how can consumers differentiate from all the legacy brands when it comes to style and functionality? For consumers interested in shopping for style and functionality, we encourage them to check out the selection at BÉIS’ resale program, Second BÉIS, which launched in partnership with Trove earlier this month. At Second BÉIS, customers can access gently used best-selling products, including weekenders, rollers, backpacks, and commuter totes/duffles, through a seamless e-commerce experience. With mixed-cart functionality included in the shopping experience, customers can combine new and used products in a single checkout to see what works best for them. Traveling smart doesn’t mean traveling out of style. By shopping preloved selections, consumers can have a new access point to leading brands like BEIS, while investing in pieces that will last for seasons to come. Take a look at how Second BÉIS is ensuring all of their bags keep traveling at https://lnkd.in/eH-gAM8i #TrovePartner #SustainableRetail #SustainableTravel

Today, Trove introduced the Resale Plugin, a first-of-its-kind tool that seamlessly integrates pre-owned items into existing ecommerce platforms with as little as one line of code. The Resale Plugin offers brands a range of powerful features: ▪ Smart Inventory Control: This feature seamlessly integrates pre-owned items with new product offerings, complementing, rather than competing with, new collections. It provides an ideal solution to offer past-season products or fill inventory gaps. ▪ Flexible Placement: The plugin allows brands to embed pre-owned items on product-detail pages, landing pages, or any other site location. This gives brands full control over where resale inventory is showcased. ▪ Quick Deployment: Brands can deploy the system in just two weeks using minimal technical resources.  ▪ Cross-Platform Compatibility: The plugin is compatible with major ecommerce platforms, including Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, and BigCommerce. It is fully customizable to match any brand's design. We’re excited to bring this to market, with our partner Patagonia being the first to adopt the Resale Plugin to advance its Worn Wear program. Patagonia demonstrates how brands can grow while minimizing carbon emissions by seamlessly integrating pre-loved items alongside new products. To read more about Patagonia’s approach and how Trove’s Resale Plugin provides a low-barrier solution for brands of all sizes to integrate resale into their offering, see: https://lnkd.in/eUbgUgwF Thank you to Sourcing Journal’s Alex Harrell for covering! #TrovePartner #TroveRecommerce #SustainableRetail

In 2023, apparel resale in the United States grew seven times the rate of the broader retail industry. Today, there are over 25,000 physical resale stores in the United States, and secondhand apparel sales increased about 11 percent in 2023 from the year before. While digital sites have increased consumer accessibility to shopping secondhand, physical stores are driving shoppers who enjoy the experience of browsing in-person even for resale. Brick-and-mortar locations remain crucial to the resale business model, allowing customers to inspect, try on, and fall in love with pre-loved treasures firsthand. The evidence is in our partners and other industry leaders – for example,  🌲 REI’s expanded its longstanding in-store used-merchandise section, now taking the form of two stand-alone “Re/Supply” stores that sell exclusively secondhand items. (https://lnkd.in/es9c6Xic) 🌲 Arc'teryx Equipment's new NYC Broadway store debuted in-store ReGEAR sales, offering refurbished current and vintage items restored to like-new condition. (https://lnkd.in/e4msT8v7) When designing your business’ resale program, utilizing features like store trade-ins or on-site operations can offer opportunities to drive foot traffic and optimize revenue growth. By offering in-store shopping experiences for secondhand items, customer retention and acquisition efforts are also maximized. At Trove, we believe flexibility is key to developing a resale program. For partners who value in-store engagement with their customers, our team is here to help make that happen with our in-store resale technology. #TroveRecommerce

Did you know nearly 85% of Halloween costumes eventually end up in landfills? While it can be fun to dress up as your favorite frightening character, this data point is pretty scary. This year, we encourage everyone to make each piece of clothing and accessory count. When putting your costume together, we consider these less wasteful alternatives: 🎃 Shop secondhand at a thrift store or through your favorite brand’s resale program: You’ll often come across unique finds that will make your costume stand out more. 🎃 Look at what’s already in your closet: Your capsule wardrobe may have exactly what you need to put the finishing touches.  🎃 Resell or donate your costume: To prevent contributing to this year’s waste, consider reselling or donating your costume to give it a second life beyond this October. Dressing up for Halloween is always a fun time, but there’s no need for it to have a haunting impact on the environment. #BrandedResale #CircularEconomy #CircularFashion https://lnkd.in/eDMJYRBr

In 2021, approximately 1.2 million tons of textiles were disposed of in California. Despite 95% of textiles being reusable or recyclable, only 15% are currently recycled or reused. This week, California established steps towards a solution, signing its Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024 (SB 707) into law and marking the first Extended Producer Responsibility textile recycling program in the country. This groundbreaking bill will create a framework for the textile industry to manage the entire lifecycle of their textiles, from production to repair, recycling, and reuse. However, there’s no need to limit regulation like this bill to only California! At Trove, we believe pushing for similar legislation is a nationwide effort. To see similar changes in your state, we encourage everyone to educate themselves on how textile waste is impacting the fashion industry, contact local representatives, and support brands with circular practices.
