I enjoyed the opportunity to speak at Executive Platforms #NAFS conference in Austin, TX with Takashi Nakamura, PhD of Fresh Del Monte about the challenges of meeting #FSMA204 regulations globally - and how company’s can implement a #traceabliity plan.
Here are some 🔑 key takeaways:
💡FSMA 204 prep doesn’t happen in a silo: While food safety leaders may be driving the effort, all internal stakeholders need to be involved at the outset, including the CTO.
🥗 Get your suppliers onboard early: While it may feel like there’s time, getting suppliers on the same page is a lengthy process and January 2026 is right around the corner.
📊 Analyze and map your data: Discover where the data is living today and how you can make it accessible in the same place. Find gaps and make a plan to fill them.
🖥️ Implement technology to fill those gaps: When the FDA asks for a sortable spreadsheet, you’ll have 24 hours to respond and as Takashi said “that never happens on a Tuesday at 10 am”.
With Trustwell’s FoodLogiQ you can comply easily with the FDA, exporting that spreadsheet in 2 minutes rather than 24 hours, but more importantly, you’ll also have the piece for mind that your data is accurate, accessible and all in one place.
Thanks to the team at Executive Platforms for a wonderful conference and shout out to Takashi for sharing actionable advice, Julie McGill for serving as our resident expert on all things FSMA 204 and to Kristen Abbondanza for organizing a great show.
