Electricity Delivered Better.
About us
Transmission and distribution systems are the backbone of the world’s power grids and the global energy transition. Yet T&D technology hasn’t significantly changed in more than a century. We cannot operate a 21st century grid with 20th century wires. That’s why TS Conductor was born — because there’s a better way to deliver electricity. Headquartered in California, our award-winning, high-performance conductors are modernizing electricity infrastructure for all. TS Conductor provides a drop-in advanced solution for both reconductoring and new line builds capable of handling 3x ampacity, cutting line losses by as much as 50%, and boasting exceptional strength while nearly eliminating sag, compared to traditional ACSR/ACSS conductors. The TS team and our electric utility partners are unlocking that potential — strengthening grid reliability and resilience, reducing total costs, accelerating grid modernization and decarbonization, and enabling better renewables integration, all while handling new loads from EVs and the Electrify Everything movement. Plus, by using the best materials and technology available, we’ve solved the problems associated with previous generations of advanced conductors. Our conductors are easy to work with, using tools and techniques already familiar to line crews. All of this has made the TS solution one of the most-awarded grid technologies of recent years, including 2023 winner of the CABLE Prize from the U.S. Department of Energy’s American Made challenge, 2023 winner of a Platts Global Energy Award from S&P Global Commodity Insights, 2023 winner of Public Utilities Fortnightly’s inaugural Edison Pioneers Innovation of the Year, and 2024 finalist of BNEF Pioneers. Born in the USA. Made in the USA. Backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, NextEra, and National Grid.

For a clean energy economy to work, we need a reliable means of transferring and delivering that energy. In our home state of California, that simple concept has become a major problem — the surge in solar energy is being hampered by an outdated grid, resulting in millions of megawatt-hours of wasted renewable electricity. “According to Independent System Operator data, in recent years, the amount of renewable energy curtailed, or wasted, has skyrocketed from both oversupply and so-called congestion, when there’s more electricity than the transmission lines in some areas can handle. So far this year, the state has lost out on nearly 2.6 million megawatt-hours of renewable energy — most of it solar — more than enough to power all the homes in San Francisco for a year." We can and should expect better of our power grid. We have the tools and technology available to modernize grid infrastructure with high-capacity conductors built right here in California. https://lnkd.in/g93zSYDQ

Kudos to TS Conductor on their recent close of $60M for next-generation power lines. Here's who invested and why their tech is so important to the energy transition... 👇 The investment was led by Wellington Management and joined by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, National Grid Partners, Quanta Services, Inc., and a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources. From the press release: "TS Conductor's high-performance conductors are suitable for both new build and reconductoring projects. Compared to traditional power conductors, which were invented more than a century ago, the TS conductor can triple capacity during peak electricity generation and demand, allowing for more renewable energy projects to be integrated and for grid operators to expand capacity quickly and affordably simply by reconductoring. Its technology can also provide up to a 50% decrease in line losses during normal operation. Its highly durable conductors can be installed with the same tools and techniques line crews have used for decades with ACSR conductors, with no additional training required. Thanks to the conductor's low-sag properties, CapEx costs can be dramatically reduced for new build projects, which can be designed with fewer and shorter towers." Kudos to Jason Huang, Founder/CEO, on this huge milestone. All your fellow climate CEOs and investors in the EFI (Entrepreneurs for Impact) peer group are rooting for your success!

“Right now we’re thinking about what we can do for the world.” 👏👏 to Jason Huang and the TS Conductor team on their incredible growth! Their new $60M funding round makes the dream of a new factory east of the Mississippi a reality – allowing the company to expand production of its next-generation power conductor from 1,000 miles per year to 50,000 miles. By replacing century-old industry technology with groundbreaking materials science, TS Conductor can triple the amount of electricity carried on existing transmission systems – a huge win for #renewable energy. Congratulations Jason and team! Check out the story in Forbes! https://bit.ly/3SDF0jW

“Between 2013 and 2022, the nation’s utility companies recorded a roughly 20% increase in outage frequency, according to the most recent federal data. Outage duration increased by more than 46% over the same period, largely as a result of weather-related disasters.” And despite this drop in reliability, electricity rates are rising. These outages are yet another reminder — we must modernize the grid. Reconductoring with TS Conductor provides a fast way to enhance reliability and increase capacity with lower overall project costs, creating savings that can be passed down to ratepayers. https://lnkd.in/gcrhMbgQ

At #BESummit2024, Jason Huang — CEO of TS Conductor — sat down with Akshat Rathi for Bloomberg Green's Zero podcast to discuss the future of our energy grid. As the push for net-zero intensifies, innovation isn't just about new infrastructure — it's about making the existing grid more reliable, affordable and resilient. Huang emphasized, "There's just no better way of getting a better return compared to reconductoring." Read more in Bloomberg: https://nt-z.ro/4cozEjp

“Disasters like hurricanes and wildfires have exposed weaknesses in the US grid. TS Conductor’s advanced material is stronger than current wires, making it attractive to utilities seeking to make their systems more resistant to natural disasters. Its power cables also weigh less and can carry more electricity than the standard wires that have been used for more than a century.” The need to upgrade the #electric grid is urgent and we are eager to deliver 21st-century conductors for the job. https://lnkd.in/gNDiPyaq
