As part of TIG’s collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, staff from TIG, TTG Forestry Services, LLC, Caddo Sustainable Timberlands, and The Nature Conservancy in Texas chapter spent a day last month exploring bottomland hardwood forests along the Neches River to assess the potential for conservation and carbon projects. These forests include cypress swamps, some upland pine plantations, and lots of wildlife, including three gators spotted by the team during the tour. #forests #sustainableforestry #sustainablefinance #wildlife

The TTG Lufkin office is branching out and giving back in a big way! TTG recently donated to Angelina Beautiful Clean, a non-profit organization dedicated to making Angelina County the Texas model for environmental excellence, and their project to plant trees in our local parks. At TTG, we believe in giving back to the places we call home. This project aligns with our commitment to environmental stewardship and creating a beautiful community for everyone. #TTGGoodNeighbors #CommunityGiving

Enhanced Sustainable Forest Management: Widened riparian buffers for enhanced habitat and water quality. In 2023, TIG and The Nature Conservancy identified a set of priority forest management practices aimed at enhancing the health of important ecological areas within our portfolio. These practices are adapted to the local ecosystems where they are applied. One of these practices is the delineation of widened streamside (or “riparian”) forest buffers. What It Means: During harvesting operations, we leave forested streamside buffers that are wider than the requirements of our third-party forest certification standard or the recommendations of local Best Management Practices (BMPs). Why It Matters: These wider buffers can play a vital role in maintaining water quality, protecting ecologically important streamside forests, and reducing wider temperature, thereby supporting aquatic biodiversity. Integrating these widened riparian buffers into our forest operations and harvest plans is just one of the practices we are implementing as part of our commitment to fostering healthier ecosystems and ensuring the sustainability of our forests.
