Nine days ago, I published a story in the Tucson Agenda about the closure of local dog rescue Lucy's Hope Sanctuary and Rescue. At the time, the organization hadn't publicly confirmed that it was shutting its doors and wouldn't respond to my requests for comment. Today, after sustained pressure from former staffers and animal advocates, Lucy's Hope finally publicly announced the closure. This is the power of local journalism and an engaged community.

ICYMI, I wrote about a local dog rescue that's closing its doors despite bringing in $1.7 million over a three-year period. The dogs still in the care of Lucy's Hope Sanctuary and Rescue have started showing up at PACC, where their fates will be uncertain. Please read and share this story in the Tucson Agenda to bring some attention on the situation and in the hopes that these dogs will find homes.
