We're keeping up the cadence: every six months, we're doing a web revamp! Jokes aside, this one should be built to last. When Tulpamancer started, the advice I kept getting was "niche down." Of course, that's always a challenge when you need every. Single. Gig. After all, you just quit your job. We've done some web design, we've done some graphic design, we've done everything except design and play a mascot. But that's not sustainable. So I did it: I've niched down. www.tulpamancer.co So that was the intent here, to showcase the things Tulpamancer does really, really well: video and brand strategy. Take a peek at the new site and don't be shy with feedback! And, of course, reach out if you need someone who can quickly understand your business and turn around beautiful content quickly. It's what I do.

Generative AI is a theft machine built on the backs of hardworking artists everywhere. Whether you’re a writer, an illustrator, a photographer, or a videographer, it’s hard to watch as machines built to remix and regurgitate your art threaten to eliminate your livelihoods. Good art takes time. Good content takes work. The continued reliance on GenAI by marketers promises to be a race to the bottom. What can we do to stop it? Refuse to sell your photography to stock websites. Pull your illustrations from platforms that would sell your creations. Abandon platforms that make you agree to give up your intellectual property rights in exchange for the use of their software. James Cuda has it right, and we as creatives should support organizations, like Procreate, that stand on the right side of this issue.

That makes one creative service who won't be adopting AI. In a company announcement Sunday night, graphic design app Procreate came out against the use of generative AI, saying they wouldn't be integrating the technology with their products. In a video posted across social, CEO and Co-Founder James Cuda said that he didn't like what the tech was doing to the creative industry and, most importantly, that he didn't like what it was doing to artists. As a means to put users at ease, Cuda and the company said they wouldn't be including AI in their service, that they wouldn't have access to users art or designs, and that they wouldn't be tracking user activity across their apps. It's a stark move compared to many other creative/tech companies who've adopted and ran with generative AI over the past 18+ months. In their full statement online, the company said: "Generative AI is ripping the humanity out of things. Built on a foundation of theft, the technology is steering us toward a barren future. We think machine learning is a compelling technology with a lot of merit, but the path generative AI is on is wrong for us...In this technological rush, this might make us an exception or seem at risk of being left behind. But we see this road less travelled as the more exciting and fruitful one for our community." 📸 : Procreate

We're out in beautiful, sunny, Presque Isle, Maine today with MMG Insurance to capture some photos of their employees to support the employer value proposition development work that we've been working with them on this summer. When it comes to employer branding, authenticity is key. That's why we try to ensure that any recruitment marketing content we created is backed up by words and images that truly reflect the employee experience at the organization we're supporting. No more stock photos, that's a promise! #EmployerBranding #EmployeeValueProposition #HRStrategy #TalentAttraction

Frederick is an avid biker, but an injury sustained as a result of political violence necessitates some modifications to his bicycle. This made it all the more devastating when his bicycle was stolen in Portland. That's where Portland Gear Hub comes in. They worked diligently with Frederick to create a brand new bicycle and, more than that, they created a tandem bike so that he could traverse the city with his friend, who is vision impaired. I've been absolutely thrilled to be able to work with this organization over the past two weeks. I've met so many passionate people involved with the organization, and I can't wait to share what we've created. #NonprofitMarketing #StorytellingForGood #NonprofitVideo #CauseMarketing #VideoProductionForGood

When you're trying to tell a brand story, sometimes documentary style captures the feeling better than a script ever could. We spent the morning with Portland Gear Hub to capture their Kids Bike Party, where children from around Portland came to test out and take home bikes of their very own. It led to some pretty special moments, like the one below. I'm eager to share the whole video, when it's ready!

From training to repair to free bikes for kids, this organization does so much to strengthen bike culture for the city. We’re here today to capture footage at their Kids Bike Party, where tons of young bicyclists are learning, practicing, and having a blast. Tulpamancer is proud to partner with them to help tell the story of their tremendous work promoting healthier modes of transportation. Chances are, when you drink a glass of water or dive into a pool, you are a direct beneficiary of IDEXX's water tests. It's not every day that you get to work on a project with a team that has a truly global impact on the lives of billions of people every single day, so when they approached me to help them craft a compelling video explaining the work they do behind the scenes, we knew we had to be involved. The team wanted something that showed the positive impact of the products, but also highlighted the team making it happen. We took an approach that attempted to seamlessly blend narration with employee interviews and featured employees from across the globe. We couldn't be prouder of this end product and we're incredibly grateful for the marketing team behind the scenes that helped us bring this vision to life (Nancy Leonard, Pamela Davis, and Len White) as well as the incredible staff that were willing to sit down to share their expertise and passion for water safety.
