Government to Set Cladding Remediation Deadline for Developers The Fire Protection Association (FPA) has reported encouraging news regarding the ongoing cladding crisis. According to documents obtained by the Financial Times (FT), the government is poised to introduce a 'five-point plan' for developers to address unsafe cladding issues. Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), Angela Rayner, is scheduled to meet with key developers next month to finalise the plan. The FT article suggests that the proposed plan would give developers a six-month window to complete assessments of buildings potentially requiring remediation. Following this, developers would have an additional 12 months to commence remediation work. Recent figures from the MHCLG Building Safety Remediation report reveal that as of August 2024, 4,771 residential buildings 11 metres and over in height have been identified with unsafe cladding. Of these 2,377 (50%) have started or completed remediation works, of which 1,392 (29%) have completed remediation works, with 2394 (50%) in programme. The pace of remediation has been frustratingly slow, considering it has been seven years since the Grenfell tragedy. This delay has left thousands of residents in potentially hazardous living conditions, adversely affecting their mental wellbeing and, in some cases, their financial stability. The government's initiative to set clear deadlines for developers is a welcome step towards resolving this long-standing issue. Swift completion of remediation works is crucial for ensuring the safety and peace of mind of affected residents. Engineered Architecturals president Nathan Morlock has officially received data from Intertek indicating a pass result for NFPA 285 witnessed by Intertek #engineers and #EvaluationServices along with our guest #technologists from National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada. Not only was this a pass but it was a pass with flying colors. The temperatures were about 1/3 or less than the max allowable 1080°F and flame height was only 4.5 ft out of allowable 10 ft. This was an intense test on a complete as-built wall assembly including thermal clip and exterior insulation. One of the “coolest walls tested to date”. Thanks to Adam Tutte , Scott Wicks , Troy Smith, and the rest of the Bothwell Accurate Co. Inc. for their financial contributions , fabrication and installation & expertise - you are a truly talented group of good people. Make sure you check details and select the right assembly and qualified team for fabrication & installation. My kids were excited to find this really old brick in our lake today, buried under water and sand. It has some unfamiliar writing on it.
