Congratulations to our July and August 2024 Tutor of the Month award winners: Amber W. and Amy W. 🎉 Swipe and read below to learn more about them. 🌟 Amber W. (July) Her nomination from Quality Specialist Ginger G.: "Amber is a Master Tutor who deserves to be the English-College English Tutor of the Month. She scaffolds her sessions so the student is doing the majority of the work, adding explanations when needed to ensure student understanding. Her overall positivity, engagement, and explanations have garnered her comments such as this: 'This was my first experience with a live tutor. It was pleasant and very motivating.'" In Amber’s words: "I live in Missouri and studied English with an emphasis in education at the then University of Missouri-Rolla. I graduated with a [bachelor's degree] in English. For fun, I have started kayaking the beautiful rivers of Missouri in the summer! I also enjoy reading and watching classic Star Trek. “I have been tutoring with Tutor.com for ten years in the subjects of English, writing, and reading. I first found out about Tutor.com after returning from an extended stay in Taiwan in order to help me learn Mandarin Chinese. The flexibility is also what keeps me with Tutor.com. I enjoy being able to work with so many students from the comfort of my own home!" 🌟 Amy W. (August) Her nomination from Quality Specialist Hillary M.: "I’m excited to nominate Amy W. for Tutor of the Month! I manage our async subjects, and she is one of my go-to tutors for strong async session examples because she strikes the perfect balance between giving thorough, effective feedback and not overwhelming the student. Her kind tone always encourages growth, and her feedback is spot-on and tailored to each individual student. Plus, she’s fantastic at adjusting her approach and really engaging students during live sessions, even when they might initially struggle to participate. Amy is truly an invaluable part of our team, and her dedication shines through in every session.” In Amy's words: "I've been tutoring writing and other English-related subjects at Tutor.com since 2011. My other job is teaching composition at a community college. "Tutoring is important to me because it allows me to get a close look at how students are learning. In each session, I work to make sure that I am focused not on what the student is doing wrong but on what they can do to grow and improve." Thank you for your incredible service to our learners, Amber and Amy!
