TCACC Member Spotlight: Get to know your Cardio-Oncology Section co-chairs, Dr. Alvin Chandra and Dr. Vlad Zaha. Dr. Chandra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Cardiology Division. Dr. Chandra received advanced training in cardio-oncology through an additional fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, followed by a research fellowship in cardiovascular imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Chandra's research has focused on improving the quality of life in patients with heart disease, as well as on primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, with a special focus on the cancer population. Dr. Zaha is a clinician-scientist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Cardiology Division. He specializes in cardio-oncology and advanced cardiovascular imaging diagnostic modalities. Dr. Zaha is one of only a few cardio-oncologists in the Dallas area and is particularly interested in Myocardial Protection, Molecular Imaging, and Mitochondrial Biology.
