About us

About Tyler Independent School District As the largest school district in Northeast Texas, Tyler ISD encompasses 193 square miles, maintains a total of 36 campus and auxiliary facilities, and serves an enrollment of over 18,000 students. The district is made up of four high schools, a Career & Technology Center, two Innovative K-8 schools, four middle schools, 15 elementary schools, and one special education campus. The District's campus improvement plans enable administrators and teachers at each campus to implement programs responsive to the particular needs of its individual student body. With academic achievement the primary objective, Tyler ISD takes strong measures to ensure a positive, safe and orderly learning environment, to instill self-discipline, and to enforce standards of excellence throughout the system. An array of programs and opportunities expand beyond Tyler ISD in this culture-rich community. Located midway between Dallas and Shreveport, Louisiana, Tyler is a garden city of over 100,000 known for its roses and scenic beauty. Community assets such as the Caldwell Zoo, East Texas Symphony Orchestra, Tyler Museum of Art, and the Hudnall Planetarium afford opportunities for field trips that expand learning beyond the normal classroom experience. In addition, Tyler ISD offers access to nationally recognized higher education programs through partnerships with The University of Texas at Tyler and Tyler Junior College.

    🎉🏅 We proudly announce that Caldwell Arts Academy has been named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School! It is one of just 31 schools in Texas to receive this prestigious honor, recognizing excellence in both arts and academics. 🏆 Read the full story below! 👇

    🚔👮♂️ After 12 years of dedicated service, Tyler ISD Chief of Police Danny Brown is stepping down to assume the Precinct 5 Smith County Justice of the Peace position. ⚖️ Deputy Chief of Police Destry Walsworth will serve as Acting Chief of Police. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Chief Brown for his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our students and community. His leadership has been instrumental in modernizing our police force, the third-largest law enforcement agency in Smith County. 👏 Thank You, Chief Brown! 👏

    Tyler ISD proudly inducts Jarrod Bitter into the 2024 Athletic Hall of Fame! ⚾🌟 Recognized for his stellar high school, collegiate, and professional baseball career, Bitter was honored at a recent Tyler Legacy game. 🏆 In addition to his athletic achievements, Jarrod returned to Tyler ISD to enhance his leadership skills as a school administrator before moving on to serve as the Carthage ISD superintendent. 🎓💼 His journey exemplifies excellence both on and off the field! 🙌
