Tzedek Social Justice Fund reposted this
WNC Health Equity Network put on a great mini conference/workshop ("Community Connections for Collective Impact") on Saturday, featuring WNC HEN co-chair Kathey Avery and convener-facilitator Kathryn Gaasch, Tzedek Social Justice Fund executive director Libby Kyles, and a panel of Stephanie Swepson Twitty of Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation, Sim Cozart of NAACP Transylvania County, and Yolanda Uribe, the farmworker health director for Vecinos, Inc. Ali Climo also made a presentation about collective-impact work. Lots of amazing WNC change makers were present, coming together to discuss and engage how to create greater health equity in Western North Carolina. In addition to the good people named above, the pics include Ana De la Garza of the NC Department of Health and Human Services, the Rev. Tami Forte Logan of Faith 4 Justice, my friend and *very* engaged community member Janell Agyeman, and Dr. Heather Cree of Vaya Health, the managed care organization that oversees behavioral health (mental health and substance use), intellectual and developmental disability, and traumatic brain injury services for 32 counties. I attended as part of Vaya’s Health Equity Council, which Heather chairs beautifully.
