On 2/28/24, Magistrate Judges Thérèse Wiley Dancks and Mitchell J. Katz hosted 71 3rd grade students from Bellamy Elementary School at the Syracuse Courthouse. The students heard from NYS Trooper Kevin Connors with canine partner, Todz, followed by AUSA Richard Southwick and Defense Attorney Annaleigh Porter regarding their careers. Following the group discussions, the students participated in the trial of the Big Bad Wolf presided by Magistrate Judge Katz where the three little pigs took the witness stand in support of AUSA Southwick’s prosecution of Mr. Wolf, who was represented by Attorney Porter. The student jury found in favor of Mr. Wolf who was acquitted.
