About us
The United States Energy Association (USEA) is a nonprofit, apolitical, nonlobbying organization founded in 1924. USEA’s mission has two pillars of equal importance. USEA serves as a resource, by convening energy stakeholders to share policy, scientific, and technological information to foster the advancement of the entire energy sector. Internationally, USEA promotes energy development by expanding access to safe, affordable, sustainable, and environmentally acceptable energy in partnership with the U.S. Government. Comprised of more than 100 domestic and international organizations, USEA’s members include government agencies, nonprofits, think tanks, educational institutions, and Fortune 500 companies encompassing every type of energy source. As an industry resource, USEA seeks to inform and promote a positive, effective dialogue on a path forward in energy policy and its implementation. USEA presents several flagship events per year and conducts a variety of webinars, briefings, and workshops. The Association provides a nonpartisan, unbiased platform for the expression of ideas, concerns, and solutions regarding all relevant energy issues. USEA partners with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and other government entities to expand and improve energy access globally. USEA’s team of international specialists implement projects worldwide, including building regulatory frameworks and sharing best practices to develop cleaner, more accessible, and efficient energy. Throughout its nearly 100-year history, USEA has worked across 104 countries on six continents. Its 30-person multinational staff speaks 14 unique languages.

Representatives from the Romanian and Moldovan energy sectors are meeting in Bucharest this week to launch a significant project to integrate the countries’ electricity networks. This integration—“market coupling”—will make it easier for Moldova and Romania to trade energy with each other and with other parts of Europe. Market coupling is attractive to investors, aids in the clean energy transition, and reduces reliance on Russian-supplied energy. At the meeting, with support from USAID U.S.-Europe Energy Bridge and the USEA JSET team, regulatory authorities are working in parallel with transmission system operators from both countries and a power exchange to discuss the additional steps needed to achieve market coupling.

A delegation of 9 Indian federal-level electricity regulators visited our research facility at CNH2 - Centro Nacional del Hidrógeno. The visit was organized by the United States Energy Association with facilitation from Pharoes and BlueSolar Technologies to help advance India's clean energy transition. The study tour funded by USAID had the team visit our center and discover our activities and we had a productive meeting on emerging trends in hydrogen markets and regulations to support green hydrogen as a key player in the energy transition. Along with other equipment, the team tested out our hydrogen car #Mirai, which was loaned to us by #Toyota in December 2023. Toyota Mirai is a state-of-the-art #fuelcell electric vehicle, powered by an innovative #hydrogen-based system. We are thrilled to know that under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, India is considering mobility pilots. Together we can make great strides to power a #cleanenergy future! #CNH2 #H2 #FCEV #AmpUp
