In Spring '24, we released a major report that examined the welfare and outlook for Black people in Dayton using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Gambia's Human Rights Champions: "After experiencing 22 years of dictatorship, The Gambia is now on a path of rebirth and reconstruction. The emblem of this movement for change is The Gambia’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Established in 2017, the NHRC is composed of dedicated commissioners and staff that are professionals with a wide range of backgrounds ranging from ex police officers, lawyers, ministry of justice staff and more. However diverse their backgrounds may be, their passion for protecting and promoting human rights unifies them and allows them to work together towards making The Gambia a country that exercises human rights." Ten years ago today, the killing of Michael Brown, Jr. by Officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, MO set off a protest movement that changed the world. Eight years ago, we sent our first Moral Courage Project team to the St. Louis region to learn from people who witnessed and shaped the movement. Out of that effort, we produced, Ferguson Voices: Disrupting the Frame, a traveling exhibition currently on display in the Dayton Metro Library Main Branch through August 29.
