CSE joined forces this past Saturday with the University of Michigan - School of Information (UMSI) to host a tailgate before the homecoming football game against Arkansas State. See him talk about his journey from @UMich to building and scaling one of the most challenging and impactful technologies of our days. Waymo’s autonomous vehicles — the most mature manifestation of #AI in the real world — are now serving well over 50K public rides every week, without a human driver, across some of the most complex urban environments in the U.S., including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. Professor Roya Ensafi gave the keynote address at the 2024 Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (PETS). Ensafi’s lecture focused on the importance of developing new methods and technologies to preserve internet freedom. Ensafi and her team have compiled and leveraged the world’s largest public censorship dataset to build powerful measurement tools. Their technologies have already revealed vital information about censorship practices used by government actors, such as in Russia, and the implications of these actions.
