Chitra Kumar, director of UCS’s Climate & Energy Program, explains that if Project 2025 were implemented, it "would "undermine and decimate an important tool in the US government’s arsenal to protect human health and the environment, now and for generations to come." #EnvironmentalJustice #Project2025 #HealthAndEnvironment

Gas-fired power plants are the largest source of carbon emissions in the US electricity sector and a major source of pollution. But the fossil fuel industry and its allies are increasingly proposing gas-oriented solutions for addressing gas plant carbon pollution. UCS's latest issue brief takes a look at the downsides of these approaches to cutting pollution from gas plants—and the imperative is clear: use renewables more, use gas plants less.

Over 150 million US voters will come together to take part in the 2024 general election, but several battleground counties in swing states will likely determine the presidency. UCS researchers created a landscape map sharing which ballots were more likely to be counted in the 2020 Presidential Election, highlighting the extreme racial inequalities in voter turnout and rejection rates in battleground counties.
