🎗️ October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🎗️ According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Harlem’s mortality from cancer is 20% to 30% higher than rates in Manhattan, and 30% to 40% higher than NYC’s general population. In East Harlem, the impact of breast cancer – as well as a host of other cancers – is significant. Breast cancer rates among women in Harlem are higher than the national average, with 1 in 7 women diagnosed. Let’s empower each other by sharing knowledge about prevention, early detection, and support. Help spread awareness about the importance of regular check-ups and self-exams. Learn more about breast cancer and find support by visiting The National Breast Cancer site https://bit.ly/4hcde8v or The Red Door Community https://bit.ly/4hg8IpR Together, we can uplift our community, support those affected, and promote a culture of health and wellness. 💖 Share this post to help spread the word! #BreastCancerAwareness #EastHarlemCommunity #FightTogether

🟣 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 🟣 This month is dedicated to raising awareness about the realities of domestic violence and supporting those affected by it. Domestic Violence impacts over 80,000 New Yorkers each year. Domestic violence can take many forms—physical, emotional, financial, and more. It’s crucial to recognize the signs and understand that help is available. What can you do? **Educate** yourself and others about the signs of abuse. **Support** survivors by believing their stories and offering help. **Advocate** for policies that protect victims and promote healthy relationships. If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out to these resources: - National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) - Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-866-331-9474 - NYC Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-621-HOPE (4673) Let’s stand together to break the silence and support those in need. You are not alone. 💜 #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #EndTheSilence #SupportSurvivors
