One of our Life Enrichment Small Groups visited Joe Minter's African Village in America on a community outing! They explored this amazing folk art space in Birmingham, talked with curators, and learned about the powerful history behind each piece. What a meaningful way to experience art and history together that you make possible.

We're seeing pink at Dr. E.'s Place! 💕 Our amazing staff and some of the adults we serve were rocking pink on Friday to raise awareness for breast cancer. Here's why this matters: Women with disabilities in Alabama are about 1.4 times more likely to develop breast cancer than women without disabilities according to NIH, but they're less likely to get regular mammograms. Our community is spreading awareness about the importance of inclusive healthcare and early screening for everyone! Join us in making a difference. #PinkOut #BreastCancerAwareness #DisabilityInclusion #AccessibleHealthcare

We were founded in 1948 to serve individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) in the Birmingham area and began advocating for a future in which children and adults had the same rights, access and opportunities as anyone else in our society. Currently there are more than 17 million people worldwide living with cerebral palsy, and another 350 million people are closely connected to a child or adult with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a complex disability: * 1 in 4 children with cerebral palsy cannot talk * 1 in 4 cannot walk * 1 in 2 have an intellectual disability * 1 in 4 have epilepsy Today is World Cerebral Palsy Day. We invite you to join us in celebrating the lives of those with CP and their contributions to our world. #WorldCerebralPalsyDay #WorldCPDay2024 #UniquelyCP #CerebralPalsy #CPWarriors #UCPNational
