“When disaster strikes, United Way leverages its deep community roots and relationships to mobilize resources and help individuals and families in need.” – United Way President and CEO, Angela F. Williams, JD, M.Div.

United Way President and CEO Angela F. Williams, JD, M.Div embodies a life of social impact - from growing up as the daughter of civil rights leaders to fighting for the health, education, and financial stability of every community.
"I’m the daughter of civil rights leaders. My father worked closely with Dr Martin Luther King Jr and was also the head of the NAACP for South Carolina. In 1957, My father wrote a powerful letter urging pastors to be courageous and stand up against injustice. Growing up in such a household instilled those ideals in me. That’s a part of who I am." Angela F. Williams, JD, M.Div is the President and CEO of United Way Worldwide. With over three decades of leadership in the nonprofit and corporate sectors, her impactful contributions led to her inclusion in Forbes’ prestigious 2021 ‘50 Over 50: Impact’ list of women creating social change at scale. At the One Young World Summit in Belfast, we asked Williams what she thinks makes a good leader, the social issues she feels passionately about addressing, and the message she would give to the next generation of leaders.
