Unity House would like to expend a heartfelt thank you to Assemblyman John Lemondes (R-126) for securing $50,000 to support facility improvements at one of our day hab locations. Funding is provided through a State and Municipal Facilities (SAM) grant. Our Market St. location, home to our Auburn day habilitation program since 2004, will receive a new roof, fire escape, and more durable granite countertops in the first-floor kitchen. These improvements will protect our property from deterioration, ensure people can safely exit all floors in the event of an emergency, and will provide durable and dignified programmatic space for people with disabilities. Thank you, Assemblyman, for supporting our mission to empower the people we support and keep them safe. We are grateful for you.

"Thriving, healing and hurting can all happen simultaneously." -Arlene Vassell, author On a typical day, domestic violence hotlines nationwide receive over 20,000 calls. While Domestic Violence Awareness Month takes place in October, we must commit to engaging in these conversations throughout the year. In what ways can we hold space for trauma survivors in our communities, workplaces and families? Need help? National Domestic Violence Hotline advocates will listen without judgement and help you begin to address what’s going on in your relationship. Their services are always free and available 24/7. We couldn’t deliver on our mission without our amazing employees. Each Employee of the Quarter is nominated by their peers. Each breathes life into Unity House’s core values: honesty, integrity, and respect. Congratulations to one of our most recent Q3 honorees, Sydney Boles (Residence Counselor, Oak Drive IRA). Here’s what Sydney’s nominators had to say: “Sydney has persevered through ups and downs at her site and has continued to show up to meet the needs of the residents without hesitation. Sydney has built an amazing bond with all the residents here and she makes a great advocate for all of their needs. Thank you for all you do!” “Sydney is a great employee. She takes pride in her responsibility as a DSP. She follows protocol and responds appropriately. Her integrity in caring for the individuals shows through her hard work and honesty.”
