University of Houston College of Pharmacy Student(s): can we do a research project? 🥹 Me: <wanting to help students reach their goals and learn new skills> sure! ☺️ This project started with Cami Hunger and Allison Pettijohn taking a research elective with me in Spring 2024. We expanded the crew to additional students (Kbria Whaley Andrea Pabon Valeria Hohl who had also asked about research experience. All students completed retrospective chart reviews (food was provided, bc everything is better with food!) over a few Friday afternoons. Dr. Joshua Wollen conducted the data analysis (thanks!). The P4s presented a poster with prelimary results at ASHP’s MCM 2024. And the whole crew assisted with writing the *just now* published manuscript. 📝 Take a peek to see what we found about switching patients from U-100 to ultra long acting insulin at Vecino Health Centers 🩸💉📉

As the UHCOP Chapter of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists winds down its inaugural year, it recently held its first Alumni Dinner to bring together leading practitioners and students for an evening of productive engagement and mentorship. Congrats!
Last night, I had the privilege of organizing and hosting the University of Houston College of Pharmacy (UHCOP) American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) chapter’s first Alumni Dinner. This event brought students and experienced consultant pharmacists together for a night of mentorship and networking. It was truly rewarding to see students gain insight into geriatric pharmacy and build meaningful connections. A huge thank you to the pharmacists who took the time to share their knowledge and experiences—your support means so much. I’m excited to make this an annual tradition!
