University of Maryland Medical Center reposted this
Last week, the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital PICU team reunited with some of their most resilient patients and families at the Maryland Zoo for a heartwarming celebration. This special reunion allowed the PICU staff to reconnect with children they once cared for, who are now thriving. Families enjoyed a day of laughter, games, and animal encounters, while creating lasting memories. Events like these not only highlight the incredible journey of recovery, but also strengthen the bond between our healthcare heroes and the young warriors they care for every day. Special thanks to our amazing partners, including the Maryland Zoo and Blue Pit BBQ, for their generous donations and support in making this event possible! HUGE THANKS to the Neurotrauma Center at Shock Trauma who recently raised funds to benefit kids in Baltimore. The Neurotrauma team led by manager Katie Bohn, held a fundraiser in May during National Trauma Awareness Month. This included a spin class fundraiser in partnership with Tribe Cycle Baltimore. Neurotrauma donated the proceeds to the non-profit Safe Kids Baltimore, which used the money to purchase 50 bike helmets for kids. The helmets were distributed on August 21 at the United Way Poppleton Community Back to School event in West Baltimore.
